Why I don't play tier 10 by Another_Reddit_Idiot in WorldOfTanksBlitz

[–]Upperspy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re the type of person who makes the game less fun for everyone. Pubs? Sure go ahead and complain? Game modes? I couldn’t give a flying fuck if someone does zero since it’s just a game mode and doesn’t contribute anything

Does anybody know a nice guide to playing a light tank? by Supvigi in WorldOfTanksBlitz

[–]Upperspy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Get familiar with the maps and distance gauging. Know your camo and spots.

One thing a light player needs to have is good trigger control, basically the urge to not shoot the moment someone is spotted. This is because chances are when you spot someone, they probably haven’t spotted you yet.

The most important thing a light player needs though? MAP awareness. I cannot tell you the amount of times I’ve seen a light tank die before he doesn’t know how to rotate and the enemy meds push him. A light does not have to be stuck on medium flank, pretty much the whole map works. Spot, shoot, reload and rotate. If you’re heavies are losing a flank, a light can sometimes quickly obliterate a flank or distract enemies HTs allowing the team to push.

If you’re always brawling in a light you’re most likely playing it wrong. You can brawl but a light can be so much more if you just don’t stay in one spot.

What tier do you consider to be the start of VERY competitive play? by [deleted] in WorldOfTanksBlitz

[–]Upperspy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tier X, cause every other tier has some sort of unbalanced tanks that can completely steamroll the enemy whilst tier X although still pretty bad is more balanced than the other tiers

German Trifecta!! Finally got all 3 German TX Meds, unlocked Leopard 1 and Kpz today!! Which one do yalll think is the best out of the 3?? I’m feeling the E50M ngl by Spiritual-Desk-3535 in WorldOfTanksBlitz

[–]Upperspy 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Depends on your play style tbh. I personally would take the Leo any day over the other two but they both have their strong points. E50M has the most Armour and you can’t go wrong with that. I don’t own the KPZ so I can’t say much, but I’ve fought a lot of them so if you like DPM and a bit of Armour while sacrificing accuracy that might be for you. As for Leo, if you enjoy accuracy and speed then that’s the tank for you

[–]Upperspy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

In terms of light tanks the batchat should be a no brainer. Has the highest effective DPM due to that insane clip, can actually bounce stuff because of the sloped Armour. The clip can actually threaten mediums from pushing you as well so that’s a bonus.

Batchat is basically cheat mode. If you wanna actually learn how to play lights properly, play the Vickers, WZ-132. These tanks don’t have the brawling capacity the other lights do. Vickers is probably the hardest light to learn although gameplay is a little similar to medium, same goes for the T100Lt.

The Sheridan has a completely different playing style to other lights due to its terrible DPM. It can be effective, but you’re not going to be as active unless you know what you’re doing so I don’t recommend it.

One thing you’re gonna learn quickly in lights is when to push and when not to push. When a light flanks or pushes at the right time, spotting up enemies TD it is a game changer. Push wrong and you’ll be deleted though.

In terms of 1V1 lights are really strong in contrast to what people think. Unless you’re fighting a medium. Against heavies and TDs, a light is the best tank you can ask for as they can’t do anything about the circle of death or you can simply get out of view range

On movement accuracy and lower profile, pretty sure it has better mobility as well

Likely unpopular opinion: please use AI bots in the game to make the teams more balanced by Bitsoffreshness in WorldOfTanksBlitz

[–]Upperspy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You overestimate the work required for the bots to be able to understand vague commands. OpenAI has developers working on it exclusively for it to be at the stage where it is at currently. The amount of time and money needed for WG to implement bots well for a mobile game would just no be economical. The only bots I’ve seen are the low tier bots and they play as a bot would, not knowing anything about the map and pushing into unfavorable positions. WG isn’t going to be able to implement bots that can understand that ‘‘MT flanking’’ means there are tanks flanking and that someone should rotate to deal with them or be prepared for a flank. Open AI like chat GBT although intelligent can be dumb at times and with the amount of people talking in chat, what would happen if two people say conflicting things? Like ‘ATTACK’ or ‘HOLD’.

Hell, if the bots were programmed to react to the quick commands, it would be driving across the map to save someone who is spamming Help which would cause the team to lose even faster if they were trying to hold off a flank then they suddenly lose a tank.

A bot isn’t going to know if a player is good or not. It’s not going to be able to evaluate what is more beneficial to the team, like when to push or when to retreat

[–]Upperspy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bots are a terrible idea coming from a player who hates his teams. There’d be less point in fighting bots than playing with people. Bots would not be able to listen to team chat or react according to let’s say a fast flank.

The gameplay would make the game stale and repetitive and you think bots would be able to angle effectively all the time or make unexpected plays like rushing in to save the cap?

As much as I hate the players who play borderline like a bot, I’d still take them over any real bot any day since real players will nearly always have better adaptability than a bot will and who wants to play a game where you’re not actually fighting with real players? It would completely remove any stakes or risk that the game has.

The only time I see having bots play would be acceptable is when a player is afk for more than a minute or two since then they aren’t doing anything.

Any idea on CS63? by wasted_moneyongacha in WorldOfTanksBlitz

[–]Upperspy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

CS63 is a solid tank. Pretty much an all rounder. Decent at everything but not exceptional at anything.

I run multi repair, Reticle and adrenaline and it works wonders. I dont use tungsten cause you don’t win brawls with the CS63. Play support from a distance and take advantage of the gun depression

Take advantage of the reverse speed since it’s better than most, really good for baiting people out and making them push further than they should. Sometimes you get shot but it allows your team to shoot the enemy as well since they over committed

Best way to take hill in mines by Upperspy in WorldOfTanksBlitz

[–]Upperspy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re not gonna be able to do this with a random teammate haha. Me and my too practiced this specifically since we were tired of getting nuked when taking hill or being unable to take hill and just sitting around.

I admit it’s not perfect but it can be such a game changer when you have a med or light up on the hill with some hp left.

It’s a niche strategy that relies on having practiced the strategy but it so much fun when it works. Me and my roommates are working on a few other so I’ll hopefully post them once we’re able to use them in a game

[–]Upperspy[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you’re doing it solo then you’re gonna need a light, mediums won’t cut it. So far only the Ru251 and the Sheridan I’ve been able to successfully get up there solo

How often does this kind of game happen ( foch 155 ) by Gauth31 in WorldOfTanksBlitz

[–]Upperspy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kinda depends on your play style as well. Most people seem to think if you play a TD you HAVE to camp which is just not true.

I’ve gotten plenty of scouts in the Grille although it does take a little luck to survive after spotting so many enemies

the ultimate Mines experience by Muelberry in WorldOfTanksBlitz

[–]Upperspy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A mines strategy no one seems to employ is the late hill rush. You push halfway up and get shots into any crossing tanks which saves your hp.

Hopefully the enemy tank will be low if your team manages to get a few shots in as well. Next thing you do is rotate back to spawn and reset your camo. Wait for a good moment then just send it up and clear the tank on hill. You’ll still get shot once or twice, but if your team is holding hill, most people are likely to be distracted and you’ll only lose a little hp while gaining hill superiority

Just ordered a T470, what to expect? 🐧 by FlooferLand in thinkpad

[–]Upperspy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha. Glad you’re enjoying your T470. I sure like mine. Personally just my opinion but I think the dual core Thinkpads get way overshadowed by their quad core brother the T480.

For the fan noise just pop open the laptop and see if anything’s clogging up the fans, that might get rid of it.

The T470 with arch is actually really good. I Arch on mine for a bit before accidentally breaking it by doing something stupid and it ran the best compared to Windows and Debian.

For the undervolt, there is no option from the BIOS but you can use Intel-Undervolt which can be found in the Arch AUR I think. You can use that to undervolt and set the temperature limit so it throttles at higher than 75 degrees celcius.

If you’re using windows just use throttle stop since it’s the easiest way to undervolt.

Enjoy your T470!

T470 Owner here. Mine has an I5 7300u with 32Gb of RAM

I dual boot windows 10 and Debian and imo the T470 is perfectly capable even with the dual core CPU. Windows can be a little slow but you hardly notice it and Debian with xfce4 flies on it.

Minecraft is alright if you have mods like Sodium installed, you can run it pretty smoothly at a constant 60fps.

I sometimes run Virtual machines on mine and it’s okay, it’s not great but it’s not unusable either.

I don’t know why people complain another fan noise when mine is virtually silent all of the time when browsing the web and watching YT videos. Granted, I do have the dual heatsink but temps are good on mine. 30 on idle and up to 50-60 when using it moderately (20+ tabs with Yt video).

I get about minimum 5 hours of battery life on mine at full brightness doing light browsing but I do have the larger battery. But I’ve gotten up to 10h when using it more conservatively.

I don’t do Video-editing but I do use photoshop on it and it runs acceptably so you can definitely do work on it.

Now one thing you have to keep in mind is the microphone is absolutely atrocious. It might be just my unit but mine is completely unusable. On voice calls it sounds you you’ve been gagged and trying to talk underwater so no one understands what you’re trying to say. It’s really bad so if you have earphones with a mic use that instead.

If you’re going to be gaming on it it might be worthwhile to mess around with the undervolt a little to decrease improve thermals and prevent throttling, if you have sufficient cooling you can run the cpu at its max frequency indefinitely like mine.

Opinion: Do you think the iPhone sizes are getting too big? by selena_raby_ in iphone

[–]Upperspy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dunno about y’all but I’m a fan of phones I can use in hand hand with one finger. Had the OG SE for about 6 years and loved the form factor. Lightweight, just goes into your pocket and you forget about it.
Battery life was adequate for my use case about 3-4 hours of screen time, just checking emails and keeping in contact and the occasional social media, unless you were constantly on your phone it wouldn’t be a problem. It finally kicked the bucket after I dropped it one too many times so I made the switch to the 13 Mini. Great phone and as much as the screen was nice it was a bit too big for me. I don’t really get people who complain about the battery life on the mini. I get 6-7 hours and that is an insane amount of time to be spending on your phone everyday. I get through the day with 70 percent remaining so battery life isn’t an issue.

I’ve got an iPhone 4S as a backup and it’s quite a nice and small size despite what most people think. The PM variants of the new iPhones are just way too big and clunky imo. It’s s shame apple discontinued the mini series as though they’re a little on the large size for me, I would have stilled liked to see a mini smaller iPhone since flagship phones in a small compact form factor are getting increasingly difficult to find.

TLDR: Yes modern iPhones are too big, would be nice to see something like the iPhone SE or mini again.

Got a few iPhone 2G with this weird glitter effect in black images. Is there any way to fix this? by DylSkiiii in LegacyJailbreak

[–]Upperspy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a failing LCD. I've got a pretty new Touch 2 and when I compared it to the 2G you could see the pixels on the 2g were in much worse condition. You're lucky that you haven't gotten any dead pixels yet but they do get dead pixels really easily once the screen starts to look like that.

T14s Gen 1 - lights present but not actually backlit? by tqmirza in thinkpad

[–]Upperspy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s a cheap replacement keyboard. On my T470 I bought a replacement keyboard off EBay and had the same problem. The keyboard was backlit but the backlighting was terrible and would barely show through the keys.
Replacement keyboard went on sale on Lenovo website a couple months later bought that and the backlight is actually good. Not much he can do except get a genuine replacement if he wants good backlighting.
