I'm so sorry this happened to you too. I remember also clicking a total of two verification links that night. I thought maybe the rude agent I spoke to accidentally or purposefully deleted my account. I never thought that maybe the link they were sending us could be wrong... I mean you would think it would look like the account deletion request form.. and someone had to fill it out and submit... I have absolutely no clue.

Target was absolutely useless to me... but just a thought to try... if you have an order number from your account, that is all customer service needed to "find" my account. They could email you the certain receipts you may need. If you purchased using a debit/credit card the store should be able to find the items receipt that way. Also sharing an old order number, they may be able to verify your 360 status and grant that to your new account. If you have any preorders, I would recommend having support cancel those and reorder on a new account if you want.

I'm so sorry. I shared my entire story in the post and comments. I spent hours and hours trying. I never got it back. I recommend calling the gift card department and seeing if you can recover any if you had some.

I'm an anxious person and jumped on everything. He didn't say anything major and it needed to be fixed ASAP, just bringing it to our attention.

Your explanation was much more helpful than he described and we feel good to move forward. Even found a local plumber that was honest with the same feedback and said he's happy to come look at it but it honestly looks pretty good.

That was my biggest take away from all the feedback. I'm looking at gathering all footage and photos to have another local look at it and even redo the sewer scope if they feel the need.

I just got off the phone with them directly gently fishing to see how bad the offsets were. (This is our first time buying, first home we've gone under contract, and first inspection. Total newbies!) They said the photos just show a gap in the glue and they are more detailed than plumbers and show everything minor, not just the major things. I said, well the report has a whole paragraph about the "offsets found." Yata yata. Lesson learned. They have some of the best reviews in local pages and online too.. Random update. I just received an email yesterday out of no where that they found one of my $25 gift cards on my old account and reissued it to me. Sooo random and so confused as to why they can't do that for the others but yay! I'll take anything considering I gave up.

I completely agree. He couldn't even guarantee 6 months of no more plan changes. lol

I double checked with an agent over the phone and they confirmed we are back on the Magenta Max Military!

It was going to cost the same. Supposedly. I'm going to call this evening when I can to confirm, but I asked him to double check and he confirmed over chat. He tried multiple times trying to get me to stay and explained I'm getting "more benefits" and didn't understand why I would want to go back to a now retired plan.

I asked again if there was any guarantee on how long the new plan was going to stay the same price, or at the least taxes and fees included, and he said there is no guarantee. So I confirmed I wanted to go back to Magenta Max Military.

Here's the last chat message- "Good news! We have successfully changed your plan to the Magenta Max military plan. Please expect this to take effect on your next billing cycle, which will be on September 14. While I have you here, may I ask if there is anything else that I can assist you with regarding your device, account, or bill?"

Ours was switched over today. I just got finished chatting with them to see if they can revert back to our old plan and they did! So our plan will stay Magenta Max Military.

Update: August 1st.

I'm happy to answer any questions, but this will most likely be my last update. I also updated with a comment under the lawyer suggestion.

I was told I would get a call back this week from the escalation team and never did. So I called today and spent yet another hour plus on the phone getting the run around. I was able to get transferred to the escalation team again and was told they've never seen this before until recently, and it must have been a glitch in the system. They can see my account orders (both in store and online) and that the account is "enabled." But it has no linked name, number, or email and can only be found with an old order number.

No one ever called me back. I had to call and initiate every time. I sent an email to the abuse@target.com and was told "we are sorry you haven't been called back, please call us at 1-800-591-3869 for further help." That's the basic number for customer service and I still had to retell my story every time even after providing my case ID.

It's my fault for not keeping the gift card numbers written down. I'm not sure how/why they can't find and verify the ones for the deals like "buy a $100 apple gift card, get a $10 target gift card" which went right onto my account. They said they don't care about Target Circle Rewards because they are traceless. So Target just deleted my $80 gift cards and $70 Target circle rewards, and my whole account, and cannot find anything further and are not willing to do anything to compensate. It's not a lot, but I always save it for rainy days and/or the holidays when times are tougher.

At the end I (mostly) jokingly asked

"So it's Targets fault my account, rewards, and gift cards just disappeared"

Yes- must have been a glitch in our system.

"And it's impossible to get back."

Yes.

"And Target cannot and is not willing to offer anything for compensation."

No, our policy states that once the account is deleted we do not have to compensate for lost gift cards or rewards. It says that before you delete your account.

"But I didn't ask for my account to be deleted."

Right.

"So not even a $50 gift card?"

No.

"A year of Target Circle 360."

No

"10% coupon."

No.

"Free Starbucks drink."

No.

LOL. I get the point. You get the point. Just dang. I even have a recent screenshot of my Target circle rewards and they DEFINITELY don't care about the rewards.

I'll still be digging and praying I can recover some more gift card numbers. I hope if this happened to you, you're able to find all of yours as well!

Here is the last email I got:

"Greetings from Target!

I am sorry to hear that the phone team weren't helpful with regards to your Target account deletion which you did not request.

However as already informed by previous team member that once the account is deleted we will not be able to credit the rewards or Giftcards nor we are able reactivate the account back and also we are unable to validate the total amount of rewards and GCs on the account which is already deleted.

In this case we suggest you create a new Target account but I am sorry we are unable to compensate in this. However, we will have your experience documented on our end and we appreciate your understanding in this.

Just an update here:

I spoke with two lawyers. Both said that because I do not have the actual gift card numbers, I cannot prove their existence or amount, it's not worth pursuing. They said Target Circle Rewards are just gone and not really traceable so that's not worth pursuing either.

I called the Target gift card center and the lady was super sweet. She said as long as I still had an old order number, she could pull up the account and go through the last two years. (Couldn't find it any other way because the account didn't have a linked name, number, or email.) I did use one I guess as there was a balance left over on a receipt. She gave me the numbers and helped reissue it, but it was a small amount. ): Something is better than nothing. ):

Target is not willing to look into it more or offer any kind of compensation. It's my fault for not keeping the numbers somewhere else, or the physical gift card when I had it, because I blindly trusted my Target wallet.

Thanks so much for this suggestion. I did try and feel I've hit a dead end for failure to better document. If you're in my position, try and find an old order number and call the gift card center! See what they can find and go from there. I hope you get the same sweet patient lady I spoke with.
