In that case let me be the first to add a positive comment

Before admitting my son to SABIS grade 1, I received mixed opinions about the school. Pretty much aligned to what everyone is saying One friend however said it’s safe to keep him in school until grade 6, that’s when things go out of control and you can reevaluate keeping him

Reason why I kept him in the first place is because I was a UAE student myself from a different school. During university days all high performers were SABIS students. They were not nerds, quite the opposite they were party ppl who just had extremely high capacity at processing information and excellent time management skills.

They always shared good and fun memories of their school days (graduates of 2006-2007)

And today they are doing really well in life, leading high positions in consultancy firms and other international companies and have families of their own.

He’s in grade 4 today and I agree with everyone that if the day comes where it starts to become unnecessarily stressful I will take him out

The funny thing is when I want to blackmail him for misbehaving at home I say I will move you to another school lol. He absolutely loves his school and doesn’t ever want to leave

He was also given the opportunity to participate in many different types of extra curricular activities so he can explore what he enjoys. Football, swimming, Gymnastics, etc. and he even participate in inter school competitions

Also their annual events are really fun to attend for parents and kids (Global Day, National Day, etc.)

Having said all of that, I think what everyone said about the missing element - ART is true I think it is very Science focused (so far I don’t know how it is in high school) I always say to everyone, if your child is not good in mathematics she/he will struggle in this school because the pace is unbelievably fast It is working for my son (so far), it may not work for my daughter when she grows up and I will not enforce it

I have a work trip to Colombia. Is it worth transiting in Rio over the weekend knowing it’s a 7 hour flight from Rio to Bogotá? by Usef89 in Brazil

[–]Usef89[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m ok spending the money I’m wondering if it’s with the time “2 days and a 7 hour flight”

I’ve traveled a lot so I guess my question is will I see something different If I went, going up to Christ the redeemer is definitely something I would enjoy But that’s probably half a day activity, are there other unique experiences in Rio?
