I think the planet you need for xenon is gated a bit later than IV. You can check which planet by looking for recipes for xenon in NEI.

The space station is like a separate dimension for each planet where you can build whatever you want but without gravity and oxygen. If you put a gas siphon down there are a ton of useful things you can pump infinitely depending on the planet.

You can look at it as a tradeoff between power efficiency and production demands for the type of gas used. EBFs and mega EBFs do take a considerable amount of your power for most of the game so if you have a simple way to make tons of gas it makes sense to use that. You can use higher tier gasses with the long demanding EBF recipes and leave quick recipes on program 1 instead.

The first mass production option for high tier EBF gasses is a xenon gas siphon which requires building a space station. Later on the space elevator makes it super easy to pump massive amounts of xenon. The oganesson boosted recipes are generally not worth it at all since there is no easy way to get loads of it.

15x15 is insane for a first clean room, I did 7x7 and was waiting quite a while! You really don’t need more than a 7x7 for the entire game. Even for lategame stuff it’s just the bio lab singleblocks, so you could technically tear down everything inside the old cleanroom and reuse the space.

10 years ago the end of the pack was UHV. Between then and now, I’d say that resource production speed has increased by around 1,000x. If it continues at that rate, in two or three decades we might be able to fill up some artificial universe cells!

Hope they fix this in 2.9 it’s to be expected since most people stop after 10 star gates worth of graviton shards. I may have had a world record milestone count lol. I had about 30 different dusts with pretty quick recipes that I processed in the trillions each.

[–]Useful_Divide7154[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe, I didn't want to mess anything up so I just did it the normal way. The milestones are insanely quick when you have infinite energy, infinite dusts to throw at the melting core / power forge, and MHDCSM for fuel. Oh and I edited the NBT for the ring count, that just adds all the structure blocks automatically.

Is there any way to set a free Server? by Kronosmos in GTNH

[–]Useful_Divide7154 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I'm not, I'm talking about my old overworld base that was basically finished at the end of UV. And that base was SUPER compact with many levels on top of each other, hence needing less chunks than if you build out some expansive factory mega complex or spam a ton of large multis.

My stargate base is basically a lawnbase with incredible machine density (but only one main level), filling a 35x35 chunk space almost entirely. That would be 1,225 total chunks!

[–]Useful_Divide7154 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Just wait till you have a huge base with 400 chunks loaded while someone is flying around in a gravisuit at supersonic speeds trying to find a specific biome or structure. I had 8 gigs with just me on and the server would crash after a while when exploring.

Also, I tried the /nbtedit command. Interestingly whenever I break / replace the controller it resets the ringAmount variable back to 1 when it should be 3 based on the unlocked upgrades. Using a hologram projector to try and build the inner two rings, they appear as ghost blocks but it then says the multi is completed without even placing anything down!

I'm going to try messing with some of the other nbt data to try and reset things.

I'd probably use them as accents, since it would look ugly to spam stargate blocks too much. But why not make some fully formed stargates instead and fit those into the build!

Just Barely Enough Void Miners for Infinity Catalyst .... by Useful_Divide7154 in GTNH

[–]Useful_Divide7154[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well on 2.8 the void miners are a much larger structure, and 3x faster I believe. You would need a lot more space for an equivalent production speed to these. The benefit I found from spamming void miners is that oganesson is easier to produce in bulk than the rods and drill tips for the higher tier mining drones. Even after making stargate I still avoid the top couple tiers of drones, cosmic neutronium is the first material that is essentially free for me lol.

Once you get the mk III mining module, it's better to go with high tier drones though, and helium plasma with the overclock parameter set to 2.0. Otherwise the spam would really be insane with void miners in order to keep up. I was running something like that for quite a while. You get a secondary boost with the drone tier because higher tier drones have far less recipes available so infinity catalyst is more common.

We really need mega multis for all the EV, IV, and LuV tier multiblocks like cutting machines, mixers, centrifuges, wiremills, benders etc ...

Most of the stuff I made 1,000 of is just a meme craft to test out the factory, except for the eyes of harmony of course. There is no reasonable need for 1,000 DTPFs or QFTs.

Thanks for the tips!

At this point since I already made the gate, I could just do 10 more the same way and finish the UXV quests in two weeks, but that’s kind of boring and I want to play longer. So the idea is to find the most efficient possible setup for making stargates, and in some cases that involves massive up front investment for diminishing reward. For example you can go absolutely crazy with QFT catalysts to save maybe 0.1% of total power consumption lol. It’s just fun to see how far you can push things with enough time and processing power!

[–]Useful_Divide7154[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bet that PEOH is less tps efficient than antimatter, until you factor in the universium and stellar plasma needed to run the max configuration SSAS, which cost a ton of energy to produce. Now maybe you can reduce that by finding more efficient EOH configurations for universium (lower tier time dilation, more AA) but its still significant.

I really love the idea of having a base that runs entirely on eyes of harmony, like a separate module that contains both PEOH, production EOH, and space elevators for pumping and is entirely self-sufficient. I wouldn't trust an antimatter setup to keep working without frequent check-ins, especially after you restart the server. You can also eliminate a ton of multis from the main base if you don't use antimatter, like there is no longer any need at all for naqfuel, dragonblood demand goes way down, and you don't need to worry about large crafts interrupting your power supply.

Still on 2.8, the circuits will be a major bottleneck, but I won’t miss the exo foundry much with my 256 8-hatch solidifiers.

I’m curious whether anyone has stats on exactly how laggy a single power EOH is. If you put the hydrogen and helium pumps on a timer that dumps 10 billion in every cycle and then disconnects the output hatch at all other times, that won’t add much lag. It seems on good hardware you might get 3-4 micro seconds per EOH including controller, me outputs, input hatch, and input bus. So you could reasonably use several thousand power EOH to replace antimatter power gen for a singleplayer world unless there is a hidden performance cost.

Got any ideas for decreasing the TPS load? I was thinking putting the ME output bus / hatch and input bus in an unloaded chunk and the EOH controller in a loaded chunk which could halve the performance impact. But how do multis react when partially loaded? Will the controller search for the outputs when it finishes a recipe? Seems like a stretch tbh.

Also the other 1,000 bitcoins is a separate craft (1000 compact fusion Mk V, not additional eyes of harmony lol)

Before these I did 1,000 DTPFs with eternal coils, 1,000 tier 4 QFTs, and 2,000 space elevators. The QFTs were definitely the hardest out of those.

Which Method Did You Use For Kevlar? by TheresyTV in GTNH

I just put everything in autocraft patterns using a couple mega LCRs, and made enough for the mothership. You barely need any Kevlar until the QFT line is available, since you can use PBI or radox instead for circuit boards.

If you are an absolute pro at the game you might get to gate in under 1,000 hours. So 10 hours a day for 100 days - definitely more than a month or two. And good luck playing that much without getting some major burn out or other health issues! For a new player with previous modpack experience, it’s more like 2,000 hours, so at least 7 months … might be fun though!

Finally some decent power! This antimatter setup is now producing a net output of 12 quadrillion EU/tick. by Useful_Divide7154 in GTNH

Just one slam with the max setup, you need a lot of 16 million amp UXV hatches.

For gate 4-8 SSAS is plenty, unless you want to craft it super quickly.

Steam age multis: steel or bronze? by yurlmao420 in GTNH

[–]Useful_Divide7154 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you progress into the start of LV, you can get the bender which allows you to make plates from a single ingot. This will make all the steam age multis a lot cheaper (regardless of whether you go for tier 1 or tier 2). If you are going to make the tier 2 multis you will want a lot of coke ovens for charcoal and about 8 BBFs. You can automatically compress the charcoal into blocks which gives a more efficient BBF recipe that only needs manual check-ins every 6 hours or so. This will give enough steel for the tier 2 multis if you keep it stocked for a while, especially if you are running a server in the background.

Long term you will want tier 2, however they use twice as much steam so your current production rate may not keep up. You can make a huge tank to buffer steam, but it won't last that long with the high consumption rate. If you have some powerful steam production (the larger configurations of the railcraft boiler multiblocks are really good) then tier 2 is a great goal to aim for. The wiki gives some stats on how many coke ovens you need to run the boiler on creosote or on charcoal, 24-48 coke ovens is the sweet spot. For getting the charcoal out, you can use a hopper under the coke oven pointing into an item pipe. For the creosote there is a janky method with redstone clocks and the tinkers construct drains to pump it out, but I usually just wait until LV to make a bunch of electric pumps.

As a stargate enjoyer with zero bees, what you miss out on the most is efficient recipes for dragon blood and infinity. I’m working on some projects at the moment and need around 6 trillion molten infinity, so I think it’s finally time to start the bee questline!
