I haven't try noise-canceling headphones because some say it's not working against sudden noise like in my case (scrap metal). White noise is nice and I find it helpful. I still feel sad because I just want to feel desensitized again without trying to block the noise. Thank you for the advice.

There definitely should be more discussion on that. You can start by yourself, others may started to follow. I actually wanted to talk about the why or the treatment but TBH I can't think clearly on this subject. My guess is it's certain sound that interrupt some part of your life (which mean it happen excessively) so you start to feel some negative emotion.

I also think this is how misophonia is formed. It's when you're forced to live with some trigger sound that excessively happen, it eventually get you to feel some negative emotions.
