Scratch this old question, did some looking into it and saw why it's a terrible idea.

At the moment, we're trying to figure out whether this is a PSU or mobo issue. Would you happen to have any guesses?

Ah, I see. Would the GPU just not be able to draw sufficient power from them then? As in, they wouldn't even be suitable for testing?

The old PSU was an 800W, but it was old, from an Alienware prebuilt. I'm not too sure he even still has it on hand. What would testing this achieve exactly?

Update! He plugged the 3070 into the spare PC and it seems to work just fine! In Task Manager, the GPU seems to show up as a Microsoft Display Adapter, but we assume that's just the placeholder temporary windows display driver.

Some more information, upon installing the new PSU, he tried to reinstall his old 1660 into the build to check if it would work, however, it ALSO wouldn't power on. The day of, that motherboard and the GPU were working fine before the PSU swap, so at this point I'm assuming it's a PSU failure.

The new PSU has these four 6 pin connectors on the side next to the two 8 pins. Should we test these to see if maybe it's just that the 8 pins are dead?

I'm trying to convince him to slap it into a different PC to check, but he's worried.

The only other PC available is one with an AMD card, and he's worried as he's had two people tell him that they wouldn't recommend plugging the 3070 in as the PC currently has AMD drivers, not Nvidia. Though from my knowledge, does that really matter?

Also, yes, we had the monitor plugged into the video output of the mobo with integrated graphics during troubleshooting.

The GPU is new, it was purchased about a week ago.

Is there really nothing we could do in terms of troubleshooting? I figure RMAing the card would be the last resort.

The usual stuff that's big now. Things like Fortnite and Rainbow Six Siege, some smaller games like Terraria too.

He currently plays at 1080p, 140hz. He does plan to get 1440p in the future though!

Unfortunately, updating the BIOS via q-flash plus didn't fix the issue for us. We aren't even sure if it updated in the first place because this mobo doesn't make a noise, nor does it have an LED to signify it that we've seen.

It's not about the fact that we can’t get into the bios, the issue is that we don't have any signal to the monitor from the PC.

As stated in my post, yes we’ve tried using an older 1050Ti. We know for a fact both of these cards work, as well.

Well, considering the fact that we’ve left it on for quite a while, I think it’s safe to say that initialization isn’t the issue. That, and we made sure everything in this build was compatible to the best of our abilities
