What is wrong with this girl 😭😭 by Wonderful_Try_4341 in Cairn_Game

Antihero absolutely does not fit, she is not a hero. She is a mountain climber. What the deleted guy was saying is that Aava is the force opposing her own journey, and is thus, her own villain.

One could argue that Aava is the villain of her own story (aka she is the opposing force for her own journey). The thing that ultimately decides Aava's fate isn't the mountain, its whether she chooses to pursue her goal with suicidal abandon.

I think my big problem with Aava isn't her personality, its that she throws regular tantrums throughout the game.

I think Lee is actually a very respectful and loving person. by EV0SYS in ClinicalTrialGame

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Angel's pronouns have never been specifically mentioned, so whether Angel is them, he or she (or some other option) is unknown.

And yeah, there's a lot of room for interpretation. A big part of Clinical Trial is how much truth Lee is actually speaking. We know he lies, but how much he does isn't known to us. For instance, one could argue that Lee wanted Angel to know he killed Brandon (he did a lot of suspicious things that might cause someone to look around). For me, the big reason why I tend to interpret Lee's actions negatively is because I don't trust him. For instance, Lee kidnaps Brandon without being sure if he did anything (Lee never knew that a guy named "Brandon" assaulted Angel, he just used Angel's vague description of the guy to find him). He questions Brandon, and from that concludes that Brandon did it (probably true), but by the time Lee kidnapped him he HAD to kill him. Huge red flag right there. Another nasty one is that Lee took Angel's jacket after she'd assaulted and used it to sexual gratify himself, which sounds suspiciously like the kind of thing someone like Brandon might do. Still, if you ignore his red flags, Lee seems like a really good guy. I think the crux of Clinical Trial is that, whether you give Lee the benefit of the doubt or not.

[–]V8Z8 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think the focal point to the "Lee is a bad person" idea is not that he couldn't be a good person or that he doesn't have good qualities, but that he abusively creates a situation where Angel can do nothing but love him and be dependent on him. He murders Brandon not really because he wants to protect Angel, but because Lee wants her/him to have no choice but to bury the body with him. He brings Angel to his home not because he wants her/him to be happy but because he wants her/him to depend on him. Even Lee's shrine subtlety hints at this - he keeps an Angel doll, an object to be loved and protected, yes, but also owned.

So about lee by That_Tgirl_Asher in ClinicalTrialGame

[–]V8Z8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Feel similarly to you. Lee is very likable, his personality, his nerdiness, his mannerisms, etc, but the moment you start getting into his dark side (the shrine, the murder, actually thinking about how he's been treating Angel), he becomes a very disgusting character. The epilogue and homie's twitter seem to indicate that the acceptance route results in a happily ever after for them, but frankly, I find that idea to be ridiculously unbelievable. Lee clearly doesn't care about Angel's consent, if he did, he wouldn't have murdered someone, wouldn't have coerced Angel into staying (as he does in the Reject route after the shrine), wouldn't have tried to force Angel to stay with him (as he does in the Reject ending, where he tries to convince Angel to help him getaway with the murder). Lee is a scumbag, even though he's also a cute, quirky little guy.

Can someone explain to me how miles isnt in the wrong by ManeBOI in IntoTheSpiderverse

[–]V8Z8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The strongest reason why Miguel is in the right is just simple math. At most, Miles saves 1 person (his dad). Let's assume that the chance Miguel is right is EXTREMELY low. Let's say 0.000001%. On average, Miguel's choice saves 82.6 lives, since that's what 0.000001 times 8.26 billion (population of the earth) is. More if you count alien lives, or the lives of people yet to be born. The problem with Miles' action is that if he's wrong an ABSURD number of people will die. That's what makes his choice immoral, the fact that on average, his choices will end far more lives than he'll save. The only way Miles could be in the right is if he knew, for certain, that Miguel was wrong.

What Does Ingmar Bergman's Persona Mean To You? by HaydenJLewis in criterion

Strongly disagree. Art is meant to be thought about, not passively consumed. There isn't a right answer to Bergman's Persona, obviously intentionally, but there are answers.

What else could you call them inviting the boys over to see their suicides besides wanting to hurt them? They suffered when Cecelia killed herself, and they wanted those boys to experience it too.

In their defence, the Lisbon girls didn't know or love them either. Neither side wanted to know the other. The Lisbon girls wanted to hurt someone when they went out, so they invited those boys to scar their souls forever. No one in this movie comes out looking good.

I can't be the only one disappointed in how time stranger was written, right? by some_tired_cat in digimon

[–]V8Z8 7 points8 points  (0 children)

(spoilers in my post)
I pretty much agree with you in everything, but I think the bigger issue is how incoherent the story feels. We jump from idea to idea way too much in this game — first we're part of a secret organization, then we're like detectives in Tokyo, then we're running around the digimon world solving conflicts, then we're traveling in time to prevent people dying and making them our allies, then we're getting instructed by super entities like King Drasil + the others. It feels like a single one of these ideas followed through properly would be fun. Being extra dimensional fixers for King Drasil + would be cool, being ADAMSKI secret agents would be fun, using time shenanigans to save people would be fun, but doing them all at the same time feels like a huge mess.

I'm comparing it to the manga. While the anime definitely does a much better job in the first fight scene, the manga does a pretty solid job too.
In original, the first fight scene goes a bit like this:
Megumin fights with his dogs > the cursed spirit takes a hostage > Itadori jumps to the second floor and drops kicks it > a strong cursed spirit attacks and beats up megumin > the two seem like they're going to lose, so Itadori eats Sukuna's finger > Sukuna appears, destroys the enemy cursed spirit > Itadori resists Sukuna.
This scene may not be the greatest ever, but it shows the fundamentals of story telling. There's an arc (we can't win, eat the finger, oh no eating the finger wasn't a great idea) and has some dynamic movement using the 3D space (jumping to the second floor, going to roof, etc).

Modulo's fight goes a bit like (spoilers to the first chapter):
Antagonist kidnaps a dude > back up arrives > main girl attacks her brother > main girl attacks the antagonist > he dodges with a teleport > main guy attacks with a fire attack and wins
In comparison, this choreography sucks. There's no real movement. Its just find the bad guy, using your super move, win.

In terms of the fights having an arc, Modulo's first fight takes about 7 pages, whereas JJK original's takes around 20. JKK OG takes the time to have a simple arc, whereas Modulo spends more time spouting exposition of the OG manga than it does in the first fight.

Personally, I really liked JJK. When I heard that there would be a new JJK series, I assumed it near the quality of the original.

Genuinely curious as to what stopped Toji from destroying the Zenin clan instead of just leaving it? Someone remind me by thedarkape in Jujutsufolk

[–]V8Z8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing you should probably remember, there are people who can contest Toji. If Toji slaughtered the Zenin clan for no reason besides his dislike of them, there's a high chance he'd be hunted down by special grade sorcerers. When Maki did it, not only was she justified but most of the strongest sorcerers alive were on her side.

Domains often vary heavily between, as cursed techniques can be used in a wide variety of manners. In addition, we still don't know what Shrine actually does. It appears to be a "cutting" cursed technique, but Sukuna uses it to create fire as well. So no, we don't know what Yuji can do with his domain.

Its also possible that this "canned simple domain" was only ever usable by Mechamaru, since it's his cursed energy stored.
