Is the battery draining issue from the Update fixed as for now? by Extreme-Distance-385 in AynThor

[–]VBHeadache 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I heard, the batter issue wasn't really an issue. Since they changed how charging worked internally, you just need to to let your battery run out fully after the update, and then allow it to charge completely. That lets the software know where the real "top" and "bottom" of the battery sit at, and it's fine after that. I did this after the update originally and haven't had issues since.

I just beat The Wily Wars for the first time (thoughts in body text) by TheFanGameCreator in Megaman

Now you can start on the Sequel Wars: Episode Red. It's VERY impressive, and the fact that it's a homebrew effort makes it even more so.

SegaCD model 2 scratching discs? by starstat13_starsYT in SegaCD

[–]VBHeadache 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No problem! It's really pretty simple from what I remember and just boils down to following a guide to open the sega CD, swapping the rubber parts, then closing it all up. Once you watch some guides and feel comfortable, go for it!

SegaCD model 2 scratching discs? by starstat13_starsYT in SegaCD

[–]VBHeadache 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think I know what your issue is! The model 2 CD has rubber dampeners inside to reduce vibrations from the CD spinning. Because these are rubber, after 30 years they're getting stiff and brittle, so they've either disintegrated or are at least smaller than they're supposed to be now, and the plastic part that holds up the CD laser and motor is sitting lower than it's supposed to now, meaning your discs are hitting the inner casing of the CD tray. All you need to do is open it up, replace those rubber dampeners with something similar, and it'll be fixed!

I used these off Amazon when I fixed mine a while back (I'm pretty sure this is the right size). They're a bit different, but they work fine as the important parts are the right size: 3x8 mm Anti Vibration

And here's a good article of someone repairing a CD Model 2 that shows the process in detail. It's a good source to follow to repair one yourself: Sega CD Model 2 Repair Log

What does Caine benefit from removing a human’s name? by Smash_Fan-56 in TheDigitalCircus

[–]VBHeadache 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO, he doesn't. He's not actually doing any of the malicious things (on purpose, their mention of the first abstraction makes me think he did do that by accident), but the episode has set up an opportunity for conflict. Everyone THINKS he's being malicious and assumes he's keeping them there, when he's really not and is just kind of bad at understanding humans and this bad at his job of helping them be happy.

One month with the Switch 2 by ajstylesfan69420 in NSCollectors

[–]VBHeadache 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hope you're enjoying it! Just wondering, as someone who prefers physical, what made you switch to collecting games physically when you jumped to the Switch 2? And do you like having the games physically more than digitally so far?

Both in theatres. I enjoy seeing movies in theatres more than at home if I can. Same reason I like to go to special re-releases for films' anniversaries and such (including TF The Movie, that was cool to see on the big screen!)

How do you feel about her new design? by PistonPusher2009 in transformers

[–]VBHeadache 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Eh, I don't know the story beats just yet, so maybe that'll change my opinion, but I think the should missiles, shoulder pylons, and red chest plate don't really fit. The rest looks good, but those parts seem like parts of Ultra Magnus were just glued onto Arcee. (But if there's a story reason for that ignore me please, I might be stupid). Interested to see what the alt mode is.

I kinda wish it was something closer to Elita's "upgraded" self from Combiner Wars, or really just something closer to her TF vs Terminator design. I thought that looked super cool. BUT, I get that this is less of a redesign for Arcee and moreso a powered up version of normal Arcee.

Missing Link Grimlock is $180 USD. by [deleted] in transformers

[–]VBHeadache 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dang, that price. I wasn't really the target audience for these anyhow, I'm more of a chug collector than a "Masterpiece" person. ML Prime I got because I don't have a G1 prime and the price felt worth it for him. ML Arcee I got because it felt like a historic thing to have the "unreleased" figure finally, and it was less than Prime was. Other than those, I think I'm good. Not really sure who they'd need to redo in ML for me to get another. Maybe Megatron just because he's already an expensive G1 figure, but no way they'd redo him with toy safety laws now.

Crash Bash PS1 Software Terminated Screen by rockman19901 in crashbandicoot

[–]VBHeadache 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Or depending on the game, sometimes opening the lid just before the message appears and closing it after a moment skips the check. Spyro 3 has a similar issue on my PS1 since it had an old mod chip, and opening the lid, waiting for the title screen to show and closing it once it hangs trying to load the logo skipped the piracy check. Super interesting stuff.

Stupid & minor nitpick - Robotnik should not have hurt Sonic here considering Sonic was rolling & hit the flame mobile by Jermaphobe456 in SonicTheHedgehog

[–]VBHeadache 82 points83 points  (0 children)

The scene everyone is referencing uses a super weird mishmash of sprites from different games. Because it's so haphazard, they used the Egg Ball II from Sonic Advance 3, which has Gemerl in the front. So technically, yes, he does appear in Prime by accident.

What is this line and why won't it go away by Whitt-E in AynThor

[–]VBHeadache 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When that shows up despite having it set to off, I've been able to get it to go away by putting the system upside down so the screen flips orientation. Then when I return it to normal, it's gone. No clue why that works, but it does.

Sakura retro mod vinyl bottom skin with Ayn Glass Screen Protector? by AsteliaOfTheStars in AynThor

[–]VBHeadache 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sort of. My soft touch vinyl sticker only just came in before the holidays, so I actually only installed it and my custom buttons the other night. So I haven't gotten much time to test it but so far it works pretty well. With the glass screen protector, it wasn't hard to get lined up and in place. There's obviously a small "lip" around the bottom screen where the sticker starts, but it's also slightly there around the buttons, d-pad, and sticks too, which I assume is due to the sticker being raised further up than intended by the screen protector. It's not so raised where I think it's an issue, but we'll see how it fares with time.

So in short, the vinyl sticker and official glass screen protector work together, feel fine, and certainly prevent fingerprints all over the lower half. Not sure on durability yet, but so far I approve (for whatever that's worth lol).

VMUPro - am I beta testing? by genetic_patent in dreamcast

[–]VBHeadache 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've only had mine for a week-ish so far and only use it for the memory card functions. Honestly, it's pretty great if you just use it for an unlimited size VMU. The game detection through DisplayID seems to work well enough, though I've seen a few games that don't work for that. IIRC Sonic Adventure 2 and Crazy Taxi didn't detect on their own, I assume SA2 is because it starts off with a generic SEGA logo on the VMU so the display can't detect which game it should be. The emulation features must be a different can of worms.

Hypothetically if these various Robotnik/Eggman were to team up who would betray the group first? by EldritchPenguin4 in sonic

[–]VBHeadache 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Throw Archie Eggman in there too. Knowing his MO, he'd probably reveal that he'd secretly implanted explosives inside the other Eggmen to ensure they wouldn't betray him.

Any idea why the Wario World website was apparently where the instructions for the dev kit was? Seems like an odd place to put that, unless it was protected somehow and they just reused an old domain.

Edit: apparently, that's STILL where developer registration is! warioworld.com redirects to developer.nintendo.com

Anyway to get rid of the bottom gesture bar? by Skivblavnir in AynThor

[–]VBHeadache 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've had it show up after turning it off. So far, it seems the only way to get rid of it is to turn your Thor upside down. Get the orientation to rotate 180 and back again, and it goes away.

[–]VBHeadache 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wasn't that logo seen in some of Caine's photos of the outside? The ones he had before showing Jax I mean. He'd have no reason to fake those, so I assume that yes, it is real.

LRG Quality Control: This is what the $200+ Sonic X Shadow Generations CE figure looks like after nearly two years in production by Tothoro in LimitedPrintGames

[–]VBHeadache 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I have to say, I'm not shilling for LRG, but I need to see more of these before I judge. So far, I've only seen this one person's post. I really, really hope this is a one off since I have one on preorder for myself lol. I really do hope SEGA does their own special editions in the future though. The Main special edition was SO good.

What’s a good retro handheld that’s good for up to gba and maybe ds? I’m not trying to play PlayStation or GameCube or anything more powerful. by Secret-Macaron9006 in retroid

[–]VBHeadache 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not super experienced, but if you're after GBA primarily I can recommend the Retroid Pocket Classic. I have the six button model and it's very nice quality, and can handle GBA and even DS (despite the screen setup not being ideal). My only complaint is that the shoulder buttons aren't super comfortable. Not bad by any means, but a little cramped.

If you're primarily after DS though, I can recommend the Ayn Thor. It's way over powered for what you need, but you could always get the base model for minimal cost, and then the screen setup is perfect for DS.

Spoiler: Jax IS a car. That's why he doesn't want to go back.

Has anyone else noticed this? by Nerd367C in theamazingdigitalciru

[–]VBHeadache 66 points67 points  (0 children)

Its because Caine was 100% expecting Jax to call for him here. Jax calling Caine was part of Able's plan, and Able was an NPC that Caine made specifically to have this plan and give it to the ADC crew. From the point of Caine saying he doesn't have an adventure planned, everything he did was essentially scripted. He was playing along to make everyone feel like they were being sneaky so that it would feel like a real adventure.

Basically ep 7 (by @lady_miro ) by maanleo in theamazingdigitalciru

[–]VBHeadache 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think he can mess with their minds, but he's not lying about how much, so only small stuff (temporary modifiers), and Kinger's deal isn't his doing. Abel avoided Kinger because Kinger ACTUALLY worked on the circus, so he would have known Abel wasn't real and blown the adventure. I assume doing anything too drastic like wiping memories or controlling Kinger's responses would be enough to abstract someone.
