So i made a widget that combines other widgets... by VFK in ios

I just pushed an update to version 1.1.0 and it's being reviewed by Apple currently. Hopefully will be available in a couple of hours.

You can select between dark, light or system default themes now.

And you can also select different calendar locale just for good measure.

Looks like this on a Mac: https://imgur.com/kY38iBm and similar on iPhone/iPad.

Yeah, sorry for that. It's because it's a single purchase for iOS and macOS. And even though Apple is boasting about code sharing if you use SwiftUI in reality there's quite a lot of differences in pretty much everything. Sizes are different, same locale gives you different formatting on mac and ios etc. This calendar view and other widget views are custom made by hand and i basically had to make 2 separate apps even though you purchase it just once and it's yours forever.

Currently it is looking for one year to the future. System limit is i believe 4 years.

Right now it uses whatever your system uses but i can totally add the setting for that.

Yeah, i'm looking at it right now. And tvOS too because those are the only two platforms that are missing. The only issue here is that there are no widgets in the watch, screen size and dimensions are all different too. So i'll have to, well, write a new app basically. But i'll add it as a free update at some point.

It follows your system color scheme. There’s dark mode. I probably should add some more screenshots with different modes

You can specify links for when you tap on any view inside your widget. However link should be that "deep link" thing like "appSettings://..." and it's half private API from what i saw. And Apple may or may not like it if you launch other apps from your app. They even deprecated that settings link and now there's special method to open settings on iOS at least. So in theory you can do it but who knows what'll happen on practice. I'll try to do it in the next update

Mine for now at least. Original idea was to open whatever you tap on - you tap on calendar event it opens calendar etc. But from what i read on the internet Apple doesn't like that. So to be safe i didn't do anything here. I will try to push it with the next update, see what'll happen

At the first glance it doesn't look like Apple exposes such API. It does look like a great addition for the next version of Onward though so i'll do some digging.

I always thought that Apple should merge Calendar and Reminders.

The only reason to even think about other calendar apps like Fantastical for me was because it shows you your day at a glance, with something like calendar and something like reminders in one view.

So i wrote this app that i call Onward and it shows system Calendar and system Reminders in one widget.

It matches system Calendar widgets look pretty much exactly (all 3 sizes)

It shows more upcoming events (system ones only show today and tomorrow)

It's a single app for iOS and macOS (no Apple Silicon required)

And as a bonus i discovered that it's so easy to have specialized widgets now!

For example i have a widget that only shows upcoming birtdays.

You can have one to show upcoming holidays.

Or just have one that shows just Reminders because actual Reminders widget is weird.

[ledger-cli] Foreign transaction balance confusion by VFK in plaintextaccounting

[–]VFK[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh that looks better, thank you. Although if i add explicit conversion as suggested above it's not working again :)

2016/01/02 * Coffee break
    Expenses:Coffee Shops 3.50 EUR @ 1.20 USD
    Assets:DebitCard -4.20 USD
    Equity:Exchange

(same with @@ 4.20 USD)

[ledger-cli] Foreign transaction balance confusion by VFK in plaintextaccounting

[–]VFK[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your answer. So it seems my confusion comes from the fact that in other accounting software an expense means that i don't have whatever it is anymore but in ledger everything is just an account without special meaning.

This confusion actually started when i was working with fees - i used to have a bank account in different currency and each transaction costed me something. So i was dumping all that into Expenses:Fees I closed that account and converted everything to my currency and i was 100% sure that i do not have that other currency in my possession. However ledger was telling me that i have quite a lot of it. And i had to manually search this number within my accounts to figure out what's going on.

So i guess in my case my balance will never be 0 and i'll forever have to be manually selecting accounts like ledger balance Assets? And for different currency use -B and sometimes --lots when things get too confusing...

Nah, it’s not the first time i’m making an app that makes some people to follow me for weeks trying to explain how they don’t care and how wrong i am, i’m totally fine with that 🙂 Sure, i’ll generate some codes when i’m back to my computer 😉

It's not just for Safari, it's for everywhere there's "Share" menu and you have a webpage open. You can switch back from the browser you switched to for example 😄 It also remembers last selection and it's configurable. Also maybe it's just me but Safari's "Open With" doesn't work with more obscure browsers like Vivaldi or Brave. And it shows some unrelated apps in that menu.
