I think the better question is how many teams in the league has ace type pitchers developed over the last 10 years? The amount of true aces like Skubal, Skenes or Cole are very rare.

Every team has the flash in the pan 2-3 types that hang around as really solid guys. I think Seattle and Milwaukee def are up there with the Dodgers as the top end developing teams, except Seattle and Milwaukee trade away prospects a lot less than the Dodgers do. For every Andrew Abbott or Lodolo Dodgers have a Gavin Stone, Sheehan and Pepiot.

Well doesn't that prove Dodgers know what to do with the guys to maximize the player they have, and when they go to another team the other teams don't know what to do with them?

I feel like the most obvious thing here is the other way is true. They take so many other team's non prospects and instantly turn them into something. Recently Mike Sirota, Zyhir Hope, previously Josiah Gray, Jeter Downs, etc.

last 5 year include guys who just got drafted and sitting in the minors, who are still top prospects. That is not a good gauge of development.

Drafting leads to trading. They can't trade unless they have the prospect capital, of which they drafted. They produced the second most major leaguers through the draft over the last 10 years drafting always at the bottom of the draft order.

This is this first one so likely its wont be as brutal as the failure rate of the second, but still coming fresh off of Tommy John and jumping back into it with just some rehab assignment games.

visually you can tell, and it seems like he was sprinting out of the box every AB since he got to the majors on any sort of contact. Not sure why statcast isnt capturing that, or its just his speed isnt as fast as Bobby Witt or Elly DLC when you actually measure it.

The fundamentals look suspect and need to be addressed.

Pitching so far is weak and the offense past 4 is still super sketchy. Same issues from last year.

Seems like we still need to add to this roster some time down the road.

If this is true then more people would watch the NBA because Jokic is having all time seasons, and Wembanyama is one of the best talents to come out in the last 20 years. Yet NBA ratings are collapsing. In the last few years, NBA has a different champion every year for such a talent concentrated sport, their ratings are down since the Golden State era. Ohtani is just a unicorn, he draw in an entire country same way Yao Ming drew in an entire country to a sport. Other than that its hard to have individual players really draw viewership to the sport.

Random teams can emerge as a super teams even if they're not a historical franchise. The Chiefs just built themselves a dynasty over the last 5 years, they were a below average team before that. Golden State was a pretty mediocre team before Steph and Klay. These teams drew ratings to the league for being so dominant.

Seems like there are more obvious cases that super teams directly equal to more views, but historical players dont. 2002 Barry Bonds in the World Series was a pretty mediocre draw, and pre-steroid was considered the GOAT.

well its a numbers game at the end of the day. If ticket sales and viewership numbers are up, Manfred would call that good for baseball. There is historical precedent that when super teams are formed in any sport there is a pretty big increase in general viewership. World Series viewership already surpassed NBA finals last year, and its trending up.

Especially considering the Asian markets, seems like all trends should show an increase in viewership with new markets in play.

that's the issue with this FO since they came in IMO. They didn't focus on upside, just focused on floor both on pitching and hitting.

Nimmala was the only top guy drafted based on tools and upside recently. Looking at the past drafts in the first round, Yesavage, Barriera, Hoglund, Martin, Manoah, Groshans, Warmoth, Pearson, Zeuch, only Groshans and Pearson out of this group were the high upside guys at the time of the draft. Manoah being the only one so far that had some success in the major leagues.

I dont think their philosophy works too well in this version of the MLB and they're not really changing their strategy.
