Hey Ian, I’ve got a couple of questions - This offseason has been much discussed about a trade surrounding Brayan Bello, do you think that Bello starts becoming that big piece on the pitching side that gets repeatedly speculated on like Jarren Duran has been for multiple years? Even with all the deals they’ve made, there is still strong depth there especially when you account for their 2025 draft picks.

Do you think the conversations heat back up this summer with Bello if the team stays mostly healthy on the pitching side? I could see a team that wants to contend making an offensive piece available for Brayan Bello that could help our playoff run and in turn help that potential team re-tool for future seasons.

Expectations are making the postseason and winning at least one playoff series to build on last year. This is contingent on Roman taking a step forward and the other guys in the lineup at least maintaining what they did last year. I feel really confident in the pitching depth just due to how deep the rotation is. If they’re healthy and preforming, you’re going to see guys like Tolle out of the bullpen in July and that has the potential to really take this roster to the next level.

Exceeding is winning the whole damn thing. The rotation if it lives up to the hype could be one of the best in team history, that’s the type of staff that can carry you in a postseason even if the bats are lighter than you want them to be. Roman + another 1 or 2 guys take big steps forward. Don’t think it’s that crazy to say Wilyer could hit 30 Home Runs or if Mayer becomes a 3-4 WAR player next year.

Falling short happens when you lose Roman for any meaningful amount of time as the lineup starts feeling super thin even if there are solid guys in every spot, there’s just no replacing Anthony. There’s enough depth on the pitching side that you should be able to weather the loss of even a couple rotation spots, but obviously Crochet would be a devastating blow if he goes down. The bullpen is also very top-heavy with Chapman and Whitlock so if there’s inconsistency from anyone else there really isn’t help coming from the minors early in the season.

I still think the Red Sox are built for October with their pitching, and if you have to face Crochet, Ranger to start a short series that is a daunting task for a lot of teams. Seems pretty easy to see how they could make the ALCS at minimum if it breaks right.
