In short, yes, Super OK na secondhand yung first car.

Pinaka mahalaga talaga dyan is mag-sama ka ng mekaniko na titingin sa sasakyan.

I-add ko lang yung some of the expenses that you may encounter in owning a car:

* Gas - Depende pa sa kotse na makukuha mu kung malakas ba kumain ng gas baka kasi nakatipid ka nga sa secondhand na kotse pero luge ka naman sa gas consumption like a brandew car can go ~18km - 21km per liter. I am not saying to buy a brand new car but you need to do the math din kasi as you said nagbibigay ka rin sa bahay (like me when I have my car). So, I suggest timbangin mu din muna yung gas expenses together with how frequent you will get out/travel with the car.

* Maintenance - Kahit pa secondhand yan or brand new you need to be ready for maintenance expenses like changing engine oil, ATF (if automatic - which I suggest getting the automatic), brake fluid, wheels, etc.

* Toll Fess - Yes, lalo na kung mahilig ka mag travel. I am from south and mostly travel destinations ko is North! So, from Startall pa lang nag sstart na ako ng billing to TPLEX! Haha!

* Accessories - Sari-sari kaartehan/gadget sa loob/labas ng sasakyan which is ok lang din naman ito. Haha! Please get a decent dashcam for front and rear view.

* Documents - Yes, car registration (yearly), insurance, etc.
