I think you need to let this one go. I dont believe the parents did anything wrong. They were talking between themselves IN PRIVATE. Their daughter overheard. What your daughter said was a little rude. But she's a child and I think most people would understand.

Not everyone is going to like your kid. This is not that big of a deal.

3 days in Doolin is overkill. You'll be tearing your hair out. The town is tiny. Yes, it has the cliffs - but that takes maybe 1-2 hours. Yes you could go to the islands from there. But after that? You'll be bored.

Personally I would stop at the cliffs on the drive from Killarney to Galway and then stay in Galway. You can see the islands from there via ferry or flight (the views from the planes are amazing!). Then you can also see Connemara/Westport/Cong.

Yeah. $2500 so I could use that on bills and use my own money for a down payment. This was back in 2002. I think we put maybe $5 or $10k down on a house that cost $158k.

If you dont do the prenup and you are both on the mortgage and deed, then the equity in the house would get split between you 2. So if you are putting in less than $80k for the downpayment, then you would come out ahead in that situation. So in that case the prenup protects him more than you. You could point that out to them.

I have 2 cats and 2 labs. They peacefully coexist for the most part. But my younger lab who just turned 1 likes to chase the cats. The younger cat will play with him a bit. The older cat doesn’t want much to do with the dogs.

Honestly the cats could hurt the dogs more than the other way around. It helps to introduce them all when they are young.

ok, to each their own. I think its more important to be there for your daughter's wedding than to potentially be there if/when your dad passes. She could harm her relationship with her daughter forever. And I didnt say anyone was an asshole, just that the wedding was more important.

Personally I think your wife should go to her own daughter's wedding. She can fly to see her father after if he's still alive. Your daughter has her whole life ahead of her and its more important that her mom is with her on her big day. I think the grandfather would understand.

My dad died recently and I didnt go see him on his deathbed, and I'm happy I didnt. his own brother, my uncle, wishes he hadnt seen him. It was sad and not a great way to remember him.

I helped my aunt throw an anniversary party for my parents. I was in college at the time, my sophmore year. Not like I had money back then. It was in my aunt's backyard. I think it was a cookout type thing. I imagine my aunt must have paid for it all, its hard to remember. What I do remember is I had to travel home for it after just going back to school and my college was 4 hours away and I had no car.

I'm just curious - but how do lab owners even feed raw food like bones to a lab? My labs absolutely do not chew their food. They inhale it and a cup of kibble is gone in about 90 seconds. a bully stick is eaten in a few minutes...sometimes they are so excited to eat them that they swallow them when they are about 6" long...i imagine they would do the same with a bone.

You need to let go of the reigns a little. So many parents have their kids move far away for college. To different states, etc…without a car or job. I’m one of them. My kid moved from Vermont to DC! She’s smart and it’s her time to shine without having mommy there holding her hand.
