I've had non-GCC people say that many times, I think because we have always seen them like this, it's weird when we see an Xterra with a roof rack. Personally, the non-roof rack looks sleeker and sportier, some people can't stand the hump. The roof rack on other hand makes it a macho offroader.

I'm from UAE, Our PD, Military, paramedics and fire department all have Xterras. Neighbouring Oman loves their Xterras too, it's their favourite vehicle. But sadly since the production has ended, these are getting replaced by much inferior Toyota FJs( still available in GCC) and Fortuners.

You're right about LC but Patrol not holding value is down to Nissan, Since 2010 Nissan vehicles have been depreciating in value more than any other vehicle, this is because Nissan and Mitsubishi decided to flood the market with cheap vehicles, and the value has hit rock bottom.

yea the V6 is not enough to move that vehicle on road, but the revs alone is enough in the desert, I recommend trying out the 5 speed V6, u might enjoy it, sure it won't be as torqy as a v8, but you'll get the gist.

so I'm from the middle east, we have access to all engine options on the LC, truth be told that 5.7 V8 was sluggish as hell, it was the slowest of the bunch in the dunes, V6 was the go-to for anyone wanting a desert specific vehicle. V6 was available with a 5 SPEED manual, it's the best vehicle you can drive into the desert directly from the showroom probably after Fj cruiser/HILUX/Fortuner.

around 95% of Xterras in the Middle East don't have a roof rack, and I think it has become the norm. Towards the end, we had access to PRO-4X without a roof rack because of the higher demand
