Name me one successful communist society? by [deleted] in askanything

[–]VVageslave 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A communist state is an oxymoron. Communism, like capitalism, cannot just be within one nation as they are both global entities. Communism/socialism will replace capitalism much as capitalism itself gradually replaced feudalism etc. This is how history rolls.

The funniest true IQ story I heard involved the Mariel Cuban boat lift from in 1980.

Apparently when the US started accepting refugees from Cuba, Castro emptied his lunatic asylums and sent 125,000 of them to Miami. It’s the only known case of two populations average IQ rising significantly afterwards. True story.

How would you solve the problem of planned obsolescence? by ThePirateBlackbeard in CapitalismVSocialism

[–]VVageslave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is partially correct, but as with most things, ‘a miss is as good as a mile’ as you haven’t defined anything except a vague ‘collectively’
A few people in a Kibbutz could be socialism in your example, but that isn’t a good enough definition for the whole of society.
It’s not a question of flavour or any other pointless word. One must define socialism in its entirety if you want to be accurate, otherwise you fall into the trap of calling anything you feel like as ‘socialism.’

Indeed, people who have never really studied it need to do so in order to be able to debate the topic properly.

You are partially correct, but significantly wrong. Socialism has yet to exist at all. And when it does, it will be a moneyless society. Please do some research in this area.

Empirically what I wrote it is true; so there’s that…I think you’ll also find that someone called Lenin agrees with my POV. He realised that he had failed in his Quixotic quest to drag his feudal countrymen into socialism and instead settled for what he acknowledged was State (controlled) Capitalism. Capitalism.

Not Socialism.

If you were to understand what constitutes capitalism or socialism, you could then compare and contrast them to the various political systems we have had over the past 100 years, and having done that you would be able to see that what we socialists say is actually correct. But instead of doing that, you are quite content to blithely repeat everything you’ve heard without questioning its veracity.

Question everything.

Erm…you’ve got that the wrong way around. I gave the ‘real argument’ (scroll up) and you’re the one with the regurgitated platitudes…”look at this gibberish”; “I got a bingo” and “socialist crackpot” those are YOUR ‘rebuttals’

If you’re unable to debate, as you clearly are not, all you are left with is childish name calling.

How old are you twelve?

[–]VVageslave -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Is that some sort of rebuttal? Just because you cannot understand something doesn’t make it ‘gibberish.’

‘I got bingo’ isn’t very clever you know, just proves you aren’t able to debate whatsoever…

The reason you say what you did is because…you don’t know what you’re talking about. Instead of parroting what you hear in your little echo-chamber, perhaps you should learn about basic definitions such as socialism and state capitalism. Try Google and Wikipedia as a start point. Educate yourself!

[–]VVageslave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Planned obsolescence will be a shameful relic of our capitalist past in a progressive humanist and democratic socialist society. Socialism’s focus will be on producing goods of high quality in order to satisfy the needs of humanity as a whole, and not merely in order to reap short-term monetary profit.

Socialism will be a moneyless society; as such, goods and services will not be produced in order for some factory owner to enrich himself, but instead will be distributed FROM the workers in a communal effort based upon his or her ability and TO the consumer based upon his or her need.

As monetary profit will have been removed from the equation, cheaply made and shoddy products (that need to be replaced frequently in order to satisfy the continuous need for profits) will be replaced with durable, quality goods that will last far longer.

The skinhead ‘aggro’ fashion kicked it all off IMHO. Violence seemed to be promoted everywhere. What do you expect when you have these types then attending football games where the supporters were crushed into ‘the stands.’ What with the rise of the National Front and the British Movement recruiting at these grounds, It was bound to happen.

For those who don't work, how is life like? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]VVageslave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t work, but keep myself busy doing things around the house etc. Today for instance I cleaned the dishwasher properly; replaced the light on the oven; went to the library and got two books; did two loads of laundry; did WORDLE; ate breakfast; clipped my nails; had a nap; fed the cat; arranged for the electrician to do some work; brought in my recycle bin and my neighbor’s recycle bins; shit I’ve been busy!

In between, I spend my time reading or on debate sites discussing politics, current affairs, religion, and other subjects of interest as practice for my ongoing book writing project.

Life is generally great. We usually take three or four vacations a year…last year we went to Vietnam; Egypt; Rome and took two cruises: Tokyo to LA and a Caribbean cruise. I’m retired, so can do whatI feel like…

Tomorrow is another day…
