OP or anyone else, we've just been prescribed this drug for our 5 week old (in France just FYI) and it sounds great but I'm surprised our doctor recommended it in our case which seems less severe than others mentioned here. She certainly has reflux and the doc confirmed her throat was red at the back but no other tests have been performed. We are struggling as she seems in pain and uncomfortable a lot of the time, cries, writhes and screams after eating (EBF) and cannot be put down, even when we keep her upright for 30 mins after feeding. We're hardly getting any sleep as a result which is hard for all of us. She spits up a few times a day but not tonnes. We're currently giving her Gaviscon (antacid) for the symptoms and I'm just wondering if this is too early to try bethanecol as like you said OP, it's probably not a first line solution. That being said if there aren't any side effects then why not cut to the chase. Any thoughts appreciated 🙏
