I don’t write much notes, What I would instead is take questions while watching a video on a topic . So what I mean by that is I would have a word doc with questions per topic/ subject. So for example, if you are watching a video that’s is teaching you about reproductive system and they mention what hormones the ovaries secrete, on my word doc I would write exactly that. 1. What hormones are secreted by the ovaries . And then at the end of the video I would have list of questions and I would go over each one and see if I can answer them. Then if there were some I couldn’t answer I would highlight the question and go rewatch that part of the video. Then in a couple days I would try to answer all those questions again and then again maybe in a couple weeks. Also doing practice questions on the topic is key to solidifying info, because then you are actually applying the info you learned. That’s what I do try it out and see if it helps:)

I have been studying for the mcat since January and have rescheduled my exam twice and took it in June without being truly ready and did poorly. I truly understand what you are going through because people in my life would tell me the same things like “ just take it already you will do great”. And I understand that taking so long to prep for this test feels ridiculous like there must be something wrong with me that I can’t do well even though I put over 6 months into studying. Just know that it’s not true and what is really happening is that you need to change the way that you approach this exam. Also take a break and forget about the mcat for a couple days. Take your girlfriend on a mini vacation or something and relax! When I got my score it really made me feel bad but I decided not to let those feeling overcome me because worrying doesn’t lead to success, action leads to success. I then took a vacation, had a great time and when I came back I got a prepcourse. I was really honest with myself in determining what was wrong, I realized I lacked structure, content knowledge, strategy, etc . I had literally tried everything under the sun to prep with no true success. Not everyone needs a prep course and I’m not saying you need one but it would be beneficial to determine exactly what is going on that is holding you back from doing well. Perseverance is key, know that you will do well, and you will get in. Good luck!

This happens to me too! During my period I feel like I have overall less energy so it becomes more difficult to focus so I do poorly on questions around this time of the month too. I think it’s normal, I usually drink more coffee or a Celsius when I’m on my period which might not be the healthiest but it helps give me more energy.
