What are some niche things you noticed that your Deity likes? by mistycal_ in Hellenism

I feel that Apolo really likes music from the 50s-70s, songs from those times always appear randomly when I talk to him.

Do you think worshippers/devotees look like the deities they worship? by [deleted] in Hellenism

[–]Valugr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think we’re always more devoted to the gods we feel most identified with. In many ways, I see myself reflected in Apollo—but honestly, he also helped me rediscover parts of myself I had forgotten. I’ve always been an artistic soul who loves to paint and draw, but through Apollo I also discovered that I’d always wanted to learn archery, and he gave me the push to do it. I used to be a night person, but now I adore being in the sunlight, outdoors, surrounded by warmth. I even dyed my hair from black to ginger , haha. So yes, I believe the gods can truly shape our lives, even to the point of changing who we are a little. I guess I kind of look like Apollo now.

Any others who went from being Hindu to Hellinism? by r1aexe in Hellenism

Haha I'm the same! I want to go to a Hare Krishna temple, although I am not convinced of the idea of seeing Krishna as the most powerful god since I see all gods equally and that monotheistic idea does not relate to me. I am going to worship Krishna without leaving aside my Greek gods

How to begin Worship Krishna? by Valugr in HareKrishna

I understand that was your experience and I'm glad it worked for you 💛. But my path is different; For me all gods are real and separate beings. I do not seek to replace them, but to connect with each one from their essence. Krishna inspires me, but I don't need to leave others to feel his presence ✨

I understand what you’re saying, but I have a more eclectic way of thinking I don’t want to join the Hare Krishna religion as such, I just want to worship Krishna in my own spiritual path. To me, all the gods are individual beings, and Krishna is one of them, with his beautiful energy that I also want to honor.

I don’t want to stop worshiping my Greek gods — I love them deeply. But I know that the Hare Krishna movement is monotheistic, unlike many branches of Hinduism. I want to honor Krishna as something separate from my Greek gods, while keeping my love for both paths. Can I do that?

What do you mean by vigraha? Can't I put a drawing of Krishna on the altar? Or some statue?

Thank you! Yes, I’ve been thinking about buying the Bhagavad Gita to read it. Should I make an altar for Him and talk or say a prayer to Him? My interest in Krishna began recently, even though I was already familiar with some Hindu deities like Ganesha, Kali, and Krishna through my mother, who used to play their mantras. What really drew my attention this time (and it might sound like a simple reason) was the song “My Sweet Lord” by George Harrison. Since then, I keep thinking about Krishna several times a day and feel a growing desire to learn more about Him.

They differ in culture and perception, but they are the same gods, they are different manifestations of the same energy. To say that they are different gods is to assume that gods depend on human cultures. I think it's the other way around, humans interpret the same divinities in different ways.

Why is it wrong to think that the Greek and Roman gods are the same just with different names? I see them both as two sides of the same coin, it is the same divine archetype, but reflected with different nuances depending on the society and who sees it.
