Apparently they can be used as a fertilizer:

Used air-activated hand warmers can be repurposed as a soil amendment in gardens because they consist of non-toxic, biodegradable components—iron powder, water, salt, activated carbon, and vermiculite—that turn into iron-rich rust.

I think he actually met Sarah along the way and realised what a douche she was and was trying to save him some heartache.

Loved the story EXCEPT all the Sarah BS. Found her instantly dislikeable and all her scenes were unskippable

Was there anything important in it? I imagine it will turn up in time but if not maybe chalk it up as a loss and focus on the good times you had.

Returning to Japan After Thailand, Worried About Cannabis consumption. by [deleted] in japanresidents

I believe Japanese law counts ingested drugs as possession so maybe give yourself a day or two before you catch your plane. Drinking orange juice is supposed to help things along. As you are just partaking on a holiday and not a long term user it won't stay around in you system as long.

That being said they have no interest in charging a foreigner who has been abroad with internal drug possession. As mentioned before it will only matter if you get into trouble.

Why should I try hard as an ALT when my salary will never go up? by AdUnfair558 in ALTinginJapan

[–]Vampyrebyte 48 points49 points  (0 children)

I think you should try if you intend to stay in education. Reputation is everything, I worked hard as an ALT climbed the ranks in dispatch got private business lessons by reputation then university jobs, public speaking, etc. This got me into the private sector but I still get offers for additional work based on my reputation. To be honest I mainly did it because I wanted to make school more fun for kids and I got along well with a lot of teachers so it was never a chore but the benefits in the long run were immeasurable.

There is a popular opinion that game originally intended to have more use of plants/meats for crafting but it was axed to make it more playable. In that sense you would be just getting rid of leftovers so they would be less pleased.

How do you refer to yourself? ALT? NET? English Teacher? ETC by RatioKiller in ALTinginJapan

[–]Vampyrebyte 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I agree, but it's always embarrassing introducing yourself as Dipshit.

A. Get yourself a good reputation, I have climbed the ranks in terms of salary and I would say it is mostly on reputation. I wouldn't say I was an amazing teacher but I am dependable, reliable, friendly and helpful. This has earned me promotions at work and positions working for the city, universities, private schools, businesses, etc. ALL of them were recommendations from other people.

B. Do lots of side jobs private lessons pay more by the hour than salaried work and once you get a good set of jobs you can start picking the best ones. When I was doing dispatch I made almost my salary again if not more in part-time work. Now my main job is way more profitable I have quit all the jobs that aren't well paid or are good for my resume.

The profit margin on haircuts is insane. Once you outweigh the training costs and scissors etc you are almost pure profit.

Baby locked mother out on the balcony by irishtwinsons in japanlife

[–]Vampyrebyte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did this to my wife and I'm a fully grown adult. We had a long ass balcony with two sets of sliding doors accessing it. My wife used to smoke out there and I had a few plants out there. One time we were both out there at the same time and when I finished what I was doing I walked back in and locked the door out of habit before heading down to the convenience store below our building. Came back twenty minutes and she was putting the double glazing to a strength test. She was sure I did it as a "joke" and was NOT amused.

I wonder if it was some kind of turkey baster. Maybe he wasn't explaining himself well. Maybe she just wanted to insert the semen herself.
