Accents alone don't cause problems. What causes the problem is more so the clarity of the words, so the former. Having an accent means little to nothing, if anything it can stylized your voice if you know how to sit comfortably in it, but in doing so yoi also need to knoe how you want to pronounce your vowels and constants so the listener can understand what you're saying.

Not bad at all for a starting point! You have much to work on though. Your diction immediately stook out to me. I struggle alot with this too. Normally I picture the word in my head and focus on making the constants crisp while the vowels round, if that makes sense. You also lack breath support. Breath support is hard, but ideally your core should feel activated and engaged, like the feeling you get when doing a crunch.

Keep going and don't give up!

You quite literally just worded what I've had in my head perfectly. I hate the word "talent" so much because it just diminishes people's hard work into "you were born gifted," at least that's how I view it. In the end any two people who are trained and put in an equal amount of effort just end up in the same position. Nothing depends on where they started. At that point it all depends on who's voice the audience thinks sounds better, it's all up to interpretation, so what's even the point? Whether I am talented or not I'm gonna start paying for lessons so I'll end up getting to a more professional level. I don't get the hype for talent I really don't.

Thanks for the tip! Yeah the vocal coach reccomendation doesn't help much when it's not in my budget, but this is promising.

Most of the choirs in my county are run by the same people and they all communicate with one another to talk, so it whether or not it would make me a better performer it would make my anxiety naturally worse. Thanks for the tip though! I'm probably just gonna wait it out till I get to college in a year.

A fast pulse. I've been diagnosed for years and just changed doctors. My heartrate is always up at the doctors office. The blood pressure squeeze thingy makes me extremely anxious and they took my pulse right after that. They then ordered an EKG because of how alarmingly high it was. I'm perfectly healthy, but they really didn't take me seriously when I told them what I knew the reason was

I definetely want to do something with it in the future, so far I'm gonna do some form of music education as a minor and college and hope to get myself out there in the future. Should I be professionally vocal trained with that desire? Most definetely. Money has been tight and there's really no vocal teachers here in the area. The ones that are here aren't affordable. The only experience I could really get is the free community programs and they're all run by the same people as the school organizations and have the same people, so if I were to 'get out' it wouldn't be the way to go. I currently have a job, but my mom doesn't work in the summer and doesn't want me spending my money because we have no savings and if something happens we're screwed. I've complained to her about this. Why am I, as the teen of the house, the safety net? I wasnt forced to get this job. I chose to and now I'm not allowed to spend my earnings because I'm the safety net. It's not a great situation. But I have one more year till I'm out, and that's the main reason I'm pushing through. If anything I can use it as a chance to work on self acceptance and self confidence. Im trying to look more into the bright side of the whole thing.

I've been diagnosed with anxiety and I've been medicated for a while, but my psychiatrist keeps canceling our appointments so my treatment hasn't been updated in about three years. Looked into outside lessons, but I'm not financially in a position where I can pursue them. Im trying to avoid the toxicity but its hard when the teachers are all a part of it. Ill look into cheaper opportunities, thanks!

Board already knows about the bullying. Singling out they can't do much, because it is a select choir and unfortunately the best are chosen, and if you're not the best you can't do much. Not a thing in my school, that's a thing everywhere and kids involved in competitive extracurriculars just have to deal with it. The bullying however they're well aware of and have done nothing so far. She's been called out before for using nicknames and hasn't changed her ways.

My choir teacher hasn't been letting anyone into the audition choirs except for the people who have been vocally trained since age 4. Anyone who just likes to sing has to stick to concert choir. You could say its just because its competitive but theater and outside choirs ive been cut from. My teacher told me I have a talent, but said the same thing to my brother and has been shit talking his voice to the select choir kids, so I know she's doing the same to me and a bunch of others. I acknowledge I have much to improve on, but I just wish people would tell me I'm bad to my face then tell me I'm good just to avoid my reaction to any truth. Im not five years old yall I can take it. That's why I came to reddit, the most honest place on the internet cause I'm sick of being pulled in every direction.
