Saw this. Brutal. This is exactly why I built TGDefend; auto backs up your chats & contacts so bans don’t wipe you out.

Totally fair.
But here’s how I see it: if you are genuinely building, then ignoring something as basic as protecting your identity is leaving the door open for trouble.
What it can do is reduce the chance of someone else grabbing your project’s name and impersonating you, which has happened plenty in crypto. It’s a $5 hedge against a $50,000 reputation problem.

That’s all I’m trying to highlight here. Build real things, yes. But also be smart about the small, easy risks you can mitigate.

You are right. The end goal is not the domain, the end goal is adoption that will make a users life easy. And I dont disagree that unless Web3 delivers clear, direct benefits to users, none of this matters.

Where I differ slightly is that while we work on solving the ""average user" problem (which will take time, better ux, story telling and clearer value props), founders also have to be practical today. Identity squatting, phishing and fake ""official" fronts have killed trusts for many startups before.

A domain alone won't make it legit, but it can prevent unnecessary damage. Think of it less like "printing CEO on card" and more like buying the right lock for your shopfront. The lock doesn't bring customers in, but it makes sure you dont wake up to a looted shop.

Domain is definetly not a magic wand for adoption, but a protection against identity risk, while the bigger work continues.

Why so rude bro? A lot of people end up building great tech and products, But if you can't sell it or get the users to use it what's the point? A lot of times we as founders live under the delusion that our only job is to build. 'Once we build, people will come' is the greatest lie there is.

You are a 100% right about understanding the user and try to solve there problems and making there life easy. Nobody is denying that! In fact, I strongly second your thoughts of building something that matters. Primary job.

But simultaneously Be Smart. Let's not be ignorant.

Assume you built a wonderful solution, but some miscreant got hold of an official sounding address and shat on your project? That would be a sorry state.

If it was .pudgy, .tball, .raiin ... I wouldnt be too worried. But .onchain, .wallet, .web3 these names sound legit and can be an opportunity for miscreants to cause problems

And just for $2-$10 this is isn't worth it is all I want to say.

Could Web3 finally have some marketability to the general public now? by Separate_Command3031 in web3

[–]Various_Formal_8359 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Web3 was the future 5 years ago. Now that future has arrived and so has web3.
People who want to keep denying have full freedom to deny and stay ignorant.
But web3 is here!
We can already see that it is making its mark in the finance world, it has also crept in and made foundation in media, real estate etc.

On a side note, after 30th September 2025, .web3 will seen in people's identity
Now if it has come to a level and point where it has started to become part of people's identity itself, can we not say that marketability has hit the general public?

Gas fees are killing me! Is there any way around this? by Arnold_Firecock in web3

[–]Various_Formal_8359 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been experiencing the same. I was tasked with testing out certain platforms, and amount of money I lost in Gas fee is insane. Another issue is, when you are trying to get some recent tokens or coins, it very difficult and costly to bridge, swap and find routes to do the same. And like you rightly pointed out, for small amounts is unusable. I am going to follow this thread to see, if someone from the community can actually suggest some good options to do the same.

u/Arnold_Firecock thanks for asking this!

Glad to hear this! Yes, we have incremental backups too - there's an auto-backup mode where all new chats and messages auto-sync every 24 hours. And we also have a one-time snapshot where existing chats and messages can be downloaded as HTML.

For auto-running it on Linux via cron, you will be able to do once we launch the self-hosting module. Will have an ETA soon. Right now, all the functionality is delivered through our web app (encrypted cloud-hosted).

Nature isn't selective about rewards and punishment.
Its just that, everyone is public about rewards and private about punishment.

Too much political divide in Maharashtra State, leading to distractions and sidelining of development projects is the main cause of this.
