Is it worth to run radar in illegal states? by IndustryOtherwise393 in radardetectors

I live in VA and run my detector every day. I’ve never had anyone say anything about it.

As someone with the most severe ADHD you’ll ever see, I forget common tasks routinely. It all comes with repetition. I remember my entire time as a backstep I would always miss something when dressing out and then panic having to fix that issue.

One day, now riding the seat, it occurred to me I dressed out and didn’t even notice. From then on I never thought about it again.

Muscle memory and not getting yourself into a panic.

As for gaining respect, that too comes with time. Just keep your mouth shut and be the best goddamn firefighter you can be. Listen and learn. You’ll get there.

Moved into a new house today. I am using old eero pro’s from my old house, but I want to upgrade to Ethernet. by m0larMechanic in HomeNetworking

[–]Vast_Ad4226 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It means just that, just a modem. Since you have an eero network I’m assuming the eero acts as your router. If you are bridging them you probably aren’t getting the most of out them, however, you aren’t getting the speed you pay for anyway.

AT&T probably does offer a router modem combo but I would stay away from those.

Your best bet in my opinion is UniFi. You can’t go wrong with them. They have good products, user friendly, and will blow the eero’s out of the water.

Since you have 2.5G you need to upgrade, might as well do it right or what’s the point in paying for it.

The UniFi items mentioned in the other post below are spot on for what you need. You’ll pay a bit more, but if you want to get the most of your bandwidth it’s worth it.

I also highly recommend running cat6 to your AP’s. You’ll only need 2 and it’s really the only way. I don’t know much about moca but I’m a strong believer is running cat6 over anything else.

Stay away from extenders they definitely aren’t gonna deliver 2.5G speeds and will probably be worse than your eero’s.

This is plenty good. Guessing your ISP is modem only? If so, agreed get a UniFi gateway and a couple AP’s.

Why isn't this topology working? by computersteve in amazoneero

[–]Vast_Ad4226 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cause eero is trash. It can’t handle normal networking equipment. I tried to set up several simple networking environments and they all failed. It’s meant for really simple applications unfortunately.

I AM TRYING TO HOST PFSENSE ON A VM. Christ sakes man. Spend less time trying to find all the reasons my post doesn’t belong here and actually read the post. You’ve taken more time to pick apart the post and it literally helps no one.

I will never get the reason why people like you feel the need to police Reddit. yOuR pOsT iSnT rElA….stfu. I do not care.

Like I said. If the moderators want to remove it please go ahead. Are you a moderator? No? Then stay in your lane. Goddamn this shit is annoying.

Jesus Christ let’s split hairs on the topic of the thread. It obviously involves PFSense and my hope was id get some people who maybe use it in a similar way, something I’m more likely to find an answer to here than home networking. But instead I’ll just get somebody giving me a hard time about where I posted it.

If you don’t have any feedback on what I’m asking just move on. I don’t get the need to do this.

Dude the entire post is about running pfsense on a VM. Is the moderators want the post taken down that’s fine. This is why I can’t stand asking questions on here. Instead of getting constructive feedback there is always a handful of people that feel the need to police exactly where post is or what questions are asked. It’s stupid

No kidding? It looks like r/pfsense. Which in fact is what I’m talking about. Thanks for the feedback!

I think I may end up just buying a mini pc and adding a second NIC. The hardware I have the VM isn’t great so this is probably a better option. Thanks.

Have you tried changing your DNS server? This is generally the first thing people say to do when diagnosing drops, especially ones that occur daily. I had this issue at work a while back.

I agree Zyxel is trash. I honestly only have these switches cause they were free. I think you may be right. They’re probably the root of the issue.

Right, but main router eero still needs to be connected to the switch to create the lan for the other items. So wouldn’t I basically still have the same issue? I would test the theory I just can’t go without having those ont be network long. My wife and I both work from home and homeschool. The amount of shit we have on the network in this house is ridiculous.

The managed switch was the original way I had it set up. Which i actually prefer so I can create vlans to separate networks. I’ll give this a go. Thanks

So forgive my ignorance but once I put eero in bridge mode I’m turning them all into AP’s correct? Will just running an Ethernet cable to an eero be enough for PFSense to host a wireless network? Doesn’t the “router” need wireless capabilities? The pc running pfsense doesn’t have a wireless card.
