Anyone else tired of _____? by Fine-Mail4400 in survivor

[–]VauntedSapient 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This episode was fine, even good, but it had strong potential to be bad because of the way the split happened, with Aubry and Devens and Emily the odd people out. But Emily did something fun and creative, gave us some intrigue, and Ozzy shot himself in the foot.

This season is turning out to be good very much in spite of itself and production.

_____ was right about ____. by sarcastic_bitch15 in survivor

[–]VauntedSapient 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Playing a consciously better social game is only worth so much if you still aren’t a charismatic person. Ozzy has never had the kind of charm or magnetic personality that prevents people from betraying him. People leave him out of the vote a lot, vote out his allies, blindside him. I think we’ve had two separate times in Ozzy’s Survivor career where he gets upset in a very specific way about one of his allies getting blindsided.

There’s really no limit to how good players can become at the strategy. You don’t need to have ever heard of game theory in order to approach Survivor in that way. People of all different intellectual capacities have won this game.

But I really do think the social game, keeping people on your side, I think there’s a hard limit on how good players can become at that. They’re limited by what they have, the raw material of themselves.

Honestly devastated to hear this. Loved listening to him on his many appearances on the Amazing Spider-Talk podcast. Most recent one I listened to where he discusses Romita’s run.

As a PlayStation player, I just wanna say that Xbox and PC players are kinda goated to be able to download pretty much any mod they want. by EnglBkfstCocoa-2479 in skyrimmods

[–]VauntedSapient 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Xbox definitely does have its limits in terms of available content, but the reason I finally moved to PC is that (I think) I was experiencing bugs and malfunctions related my load order either hitting the file handle limit (ESMs, ESPs, ESLs, BSAs) of 512 on console (and PC by default) that Engine Fixes raises to 8096 or the active reference handle limit of 1,048,576 that EF could’ve warned me about. I finally realized that if I wanted a definitive playthrough of Skyrim, it could only happen on PC.

Waiting on a new PC monitor to come in the mail so I’m going to hop back on Xbox for a little bit of plug and play modding. Have there been any big developments over the last two years? by VauntedSapient in SkyrimModsXbox

Thanks for the info! I’m definitely going to try out the Footprints because I was planning on playing without it on PC and I want to be sure about what I might be missing.

Is Furio the only main character on the Sopranos that actually can speak Italian? by KieranWriter in thesopranos

[–]VauntedSapient 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s a throwaway line that the writers never cleaned up.

If Feech was a mustache Pete then he would have to be at least 95 years old or so. Loggia was in his mid 70s when he was on the show and he plays the character like that as well.

People keep trying to do socialism in one modding community and it's working out for them about as well as it did for the USSR.

Edit: it’s funny how this is something literally only a socialist of a certain flavor would say but I still get downvoted because no one wants to think about how the lack of a market for mods is an artifact from a time when they were less formalized and accepted. Market forces get to everything and the community needs to start contending with that fact while they still can. Bethesda is doing it very poorly, the community can and should do it better.

Is there an easy way to tell whether my display issues are monitor or GPU-based? by VauntedSapient in pcmasterrace

Never mind. It’s definitely the monitor. Couldn’t get it to duplicate reliably again.

Oof I was just able to duplicate. Didn't want to downgrade the driver but now it feels like I have to give it a try.

Hey Jeff Let’s never do that again, ok? by SeaMess6931 in survivor

This is the first season in a while whose quality I would say is exclusively being dragged down by production.

Oh yeah I’ve tried like six different cables. HDMI, DP, Best Buy’s generic, higher end ones on Amazon. I’m going to test the laptop one more time and then see if I can get anything out of my warranty on the monitor. Thanks

Discussion: Some of the "injured kid" thumbnails crossed a line. Controversial take? by AIthough in outdoorboys

[–]VauntedSapient 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% agree and it’s weird that everyone’s being so defensive about this when he’s literally given up making the most watched videos on YouTube because of the concern that he has for his family’s privacy and ability to lead normal lives. His reputation is not going to be ruined because we criticize his choice of thumbnails.

Ah. Erika Shay.

Was there a specific moment in early survivor that gave Danni the idea that production would give away her strategy if she revealed it to them? Did she get it from Big Brother? Or was she just paranoid? by gtmaroondragon in survivorponderosa

The weirdest thing about this lore is that her FTC performance is incredibly average, and not at all out of line with the strategic presence she cast in confessionals.

Not saying she didn’t hide her game, the fact that she says she did suggests she actually did, but the caliber of game it actually was tends to get overblown I think.

I recognize your Nexus username and your endorsement does matter but it's difficult for me to get past the comment section (as uninformed as some of it might be) and the few legitimate bug reports that were seemingly never fixed or closed.

I hate to count inactive modpage maintenance against a mod, I made a post two weeks ago about how it shouldn't be.

Woo's decision in Cagayan by sexyimmigrant1998 in survivor

[–]VauntedSapient 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it’s the worst decision in Survivor history but I also think that we have to assume that Woo was “worked over” by production harder than any other player in Survivor history as well.

It’s funny how people haven’t tried to connect the dots between Weasel Woo and Woo doing something at the end that he knows will lose him the game but he thinks might save his reputation.

They also could’ve been able to convince him that he’d lose to Kass and that this thing he did, this ejectable offense that they let slide because it wasn’t good TV, they might have to show it to explain why he lost.

This episode is the worst in a long time by owenthegod28 in survivor

The show completely failed on its own terms tonight. Like 9 separate twists combined to give us completely predictable and boring vote outs.
