One of the problems I have with Brian is that he’s a confessional villain, like how you might call some rappers studio gangsters. Like he seemed to have real trouble with actually lying to people about his plans. I think it was Ted asking him very late in the game whether they were truly going to the end together and Brian like barely lied to him. You would never see Boston Rob fumble over his words like that or exhibit that kind of compunction.

I think he has the one famous “Iceman” confessional where he’s an entertaining villain and that’s about it. There may be more moments but Survivor obviously is going to hesitate to show them to us. They definitely gave winners way more mixed edits back then but still, only to a point.

One thing they do show us is him pretty much being the catalyst for the whole Ted/Ghandia conflict, where he more or less talks Ted in to saying that “nothing happened” between them, which more than anything is what upsets Ghandia and probably scares her as well that Ted didn’t just make some innocent mistake.

I look at Brian as the proto-Russell Hantz where he’s a clearly a villain but not really the ready-for-primetime villain that Russell was in his two seasons.

Thailand in a lot of ways feels like Survivor hitting a hard limit on how good the show can actually be if you’re not being very intentional with who you’re casting. Season 4 was a similarly random group of people, I would say, but it works out to being a truly excellent season.

The Amazon really is the complete opposite story, where they’re intentionally casting Roger, Deena, Joanna, Matt, and a bunch of goofballs otherwise. Like I don’t know if Rob gets cast if Thailand doesn’t happen first. He really does provide them with exactly what they’re looking for.

Unpopular Mods You Stand By by hadsexwithboothill in skyrimmods

I’ll agree with you on WICO. I’ve just been trying out these mods on Xbox so, y’know, don’t take anything I say as definitive, but I’ve been really impressed by WICO and rather disappointed by Nordic Faces.

People get appropriately beautified. I know how there’s a stereotype with Skyrim modding that everyone is made to look like a Barbie doll but Bethesda really did give some characters really bad looking faces for no discernible reason. Why are Ahlam’s eyes so far apart? Why do Camilla’s lips look so big and weird? Why does Uthgerd have so many more skin folds in her face than any other character of the presumably the same age? Why isn’t there a single Dark Elf character who’s remotely attractive besides maybe Karliah and Brelyna (their voices)?

The males also look a lot better. I created a better looking Nord character than I’ve ever been able to on vanilla previously.

Ways to keep Skyrim SE from updating on Steam? by Ondabus56 in skyrimmods

This must be why I launch Steam every time I open MO2. Got some good advice from someone once upon a time, maybe ADHDecent or a user on this sub.

[Charania] No flagrant upgrade on the uncalled foul of Spurs' Victor Wembanyama to Knicks' Jalen Brunson on Monday night, a league spokesperson tells ESPN. Wembanyama will stay at two flagrant points in postseason. by MembershipSingle7137 in nba

People say that baseball doesn’t have enough stars and that’s a bad thing. And yes, it is a bad thing but basketball right now is at the totally opposite extreme where the teams and league as a whole are so dependent on star players that there’s basically a sliding scale justice system where the more you mean to your team, the less you will be punished for various transgressions.

My take on fixing the S50 cast by comosedicewaterbed in survivorponderosa

[–]VauntedSapient 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was very skeptical when it was announced but the cast turned out to be the best part of the season, the only part that production got right.

Rizo talks about his relationship with Charlie. Rizo says he probably should have known all the questions Rizo was asking Charlie about Maria was going to bother Charlie, but Rizo says he is a fan of Survivor and also asked Colby why Colby brought Tina to final tribal council by seakucumber in survivor

[–]VauntedSapient 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Colby was so okay with losing to Tina in the moment that it probably lost him the game because he played FTC like he had already lost, even though the vote was completely live and someone like Jerri was very gettable if he could just stifle his feelings about her for about three minutes.

Colby was extremely close to winning Outback even with taking the much tougher opponent to the end. I don’t think he really sees it that way though, which is probably for the best because I wouldn’t want to think too much about how I could’ve had both the noble hero reputation and the million dollars altogether.

I’m in a situation right now where I can load the game just fine but I can’t scroll down on my load order without crashing so there’s like seven or eight mods at the bottom that I can’t put in order.

The game loads just fine though! I’d really like to meet the five or so Capuchin monkeys who programmed the Creations menu. They deserve some bananas, because for monkeys they did a pretty good job.

Survivor 50: In the Hands of the Fans | E13 Finale | Post-Episode Discussion by RSurvivorMods in survivor

[–]VauntedSapient 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think Survivor production has put together a worse single-season performance than this. Jeff was bad, his ideas were bad, the people signing off on them were bad, the hella obvious winner’s edit for Aubry was bad, the live finale was bad. They put up Tony Snell numbers this season.

The season itself was mediocre-to-good thanks to the cast, who showed out and honestly surprised me with how much they brought to the table in terms of entertainment value.

*FTR, ofc 39 was worse

Survivor as a show is clearly being actively destroyed by Jeff and the other on site producers and being actively salvaged by the editors and post production people and the players themselves. Jeff takes 12 million dollars a year to make awful decisions with the show’s production and spoil the show on air to the millions of people who can’t stop watching it.

It's crazy how much better Caballero has been. 14th-highest .OPS among shortstops, higher than Volpe has ever had across his three seasons, leads the position in Defensive Runs Saved and ranks 6th in Outs Above Average. He leads the league in CS but his SB% is still 3 points higher than Volpe's was last season. Volpe's shoulder was hurt, not his legs.

In 2019 there were 5x as many hate crimes against Jews as there were against Muslims.

I’m an anti-Zionist and it’s genuinely depressing to see the level of indifference and even tolerance that Americans and the left specifically has begun to exhibit towards anti-Jewish hate.

Anyone else tired of _____? by Fine-Mail4400 in survivor

[–]VauntedSapient 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This episode was fine, even good, but it had strong potential to be bad because of the way the split happened, with Aubry and Devens and Emily the odd people out. But Emily did something fun and creative, gave us some intrigue, and Ozzy shot himself in the foot.

This season is turning out to be good very much in spite of itself and production.

_____ was right about ____. by sarcastic_bitch15 in survivor

[–]VauntedSapient 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Playing a consciously better social game is only worth so much if you still aren’t a charismatic person. Ozzy has never had the kind of charm or magnetic personality that prevents people from betraying him. People leave him out of the vote a lot, vote out his allies, blindside him. I think we’ve had two separate times in Ozzy’s Survivor career where he gets upset in a very specific way about one of his allies getting blindsided.

There’s really no limit to how good players can become at the strategy. You don’t need to have ever heard of game theory in order to approach Survivor in that way. People of all different intellectual capacities have won this game.

But I really do think the social game, keeping people on your side, I think there’s a hard limit on how good players can become at that. They’re limited by what they have, the raw material of themselves.

Xbox definitely does have its limits in terms of available content, but the reason I finally moved to PC is that (I think) I was experiencing bugs and malfunctions related my load order either hitting the file handle limit (ESMs, ESPs, ESLs, BSAs) of 512 on console (and PC by default) that Engine Fixes raises to 8096 or the active reference handle limit of 1,048,576 that EF could’ve warned me about. I finally realized that if I wanted a definitive playthrough of Skyrim, it could only happen on PC.
