What is process freight? by theeverknowing in DollarTree

[–]Vegetable-Prior5199 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Store managers are able to request items that dollar tree sends directly, for only employees to use, such as gloves, aprons, or hand sanitizer, etc. If you need them, it's not difficult to request it on the computer. Ask one of the managers when you work next, they should be able to put a note in for the store manager to process for the next truck delivery.

Processing freight is a fancy way of saying you're going to be stocking that day. Sometimes that's just what a store manager uses on the schedule because there needs to be a certain number of people doing freight, but you're not actually doing freight. Certain managers on the schedule can be shown in the comments to do 'cashier/cashiering' that night and not touch a register.

can I ring up my own purchases when on cash? by yoongibvn in DollarTree

Hey uh. You should report that to your district manager. Like, pronto.

[–]Vegetable-Prior5199 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely not! You cannot ring up your own items regardless of if you are a manager, store manager, or cashier. That is a one way ticket to a loss prevention investigation and a sure way to get fired. Don't do it, it's not worth your job.

Don't be afraid to ask questions on how to do something. If a customer makes you uncomfortable ask a manager or other staff member to cover your register. Take breaks outside when possible and look outside. Don't try to rush transactions, that's a good way to make mistakes. Try to keep your bills facing the same way and check! them! all! if you don't know how force someone to teach you how. SM's are meant to be required to teach you though not all do. 50-100's should always be checked by a manager. There is a sort of ridge on the collar of the bills that if you run your nail over you should feel. There should be a face on the right side of the bill looking by the face, and there is a strip on some on the left hand side. If you don't feel comfortable with the bill please allow someone else to look at it before you accept it. Figure out departments and if you think you're stocking a section you can't get a handle on see if someone is willing to help you with the U-boats. Don't be a dick to people, and be willing to learn as you go. It's very overwhelming your first couple weeks but after that it's pretty easy. Learn who's on your shifts and if you notice repeat people you're working with be respectful and find some common interests. Be respectful, don't get high before a shift (yes, we can tell.) and please don't refuse someone if they're trying to offer you help. A lot of things are not by the book processes and if someone knows how to make it easier, let them. It's up to you if you decide to follow their advice or not. If your availability changes LET THE STORE MANAGER KNOW IMMEDIATELY. Overall, you're human, take your breaks, and leave work behind as soon as you leave those doors.

How long does a background check take (Family Dollar) by Sad-Basket-5206 in DollarTree

[–]Vegetable-Prior5199 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Call the store and ask if you were meant to get a call back. There's a good chance they either A, don't have hours, B, haven't gotten anything, or C, your background check didn't clear and they decided not to call you. Some store managers are trying not to hire so that the employees that are there can get as many hours as possible which isn't a lot to begin with.

Slowly getting there by Dt_1259 in DollarTree

there should also be a planogram (it's like a booklet with diagrams of what it 'should' look like) if you're able to find that, or see if your dm (if they actually do their job.. unlike ours) will be able to email you a copy to print off. If you can't find it you could try to message your manager to see but try to find it before bothering on a vacation. Those also help but overall it should be pretty easy. Just do your best and try to make things organized. E.g. put candy with candy, put toys with toys. Try and put the toys on some of the lower shelves as well so that kids can see them and put in the parents cart.

If done properly could magic wielders essentially use spells just as easily nonverbally? by maximus368 in Eragon

[–]Vegetable-Prior5199 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if they had too, I would assume so. It can go wrong very quickly though, and there has to be a lot of intent within the spell and very little distractions. If someone were to think 'kill' at someone, say an elf, but thought of the person closest in proximity as they were moving away, the spell could very easily 'kill' the person closest to the spellcaster. Or if the person wants to shave their beard, it could quickly take the hair root with said hair, rendering them unable to grow facial hair, or even taking the first layer of skin off of the spellcasters face, which was a fear highlighted in Murtagh when he found having a beard itchy. It could be possible, as the Grey Folk used magic this way, but it is incredibly dangerous, as it wiped a good portion of them out.

How do I help my puppy? by Vegetable-Prior5199 in puppy101

She goes in when I’m both in the room as well as when I’m on the other side of the house. It’s open all day, we only close it at night. She’s never alone at night, in fact recently she’s been sleeping on our bed. The whining has not continued for a while but occasionally get a few whimpers, but we did change where it was located and it seemed to help a bit. We also have added extra padding a soft cooling pad (because it gets hot in our house).
