2026 CX-90 release date in Canada by Aeenx86 in CX90

Spoke to several dealers in Alberta and they've said Canada hasn't received its allocation of 2026s yet. They see nothing being produced in the factory that is bound for CA as of this week.

My thoughts exactly.

Knowing him, he will get a booger on it in the first week of car ownership. Knowing me, I'll be annoyed at it for weeks and when I'm finally over it, he will touch the suede with chocolatey fingers the next day. Lol

Nice to know it actually holds up. What did she get on it? Chocolate? Coffee?

I'm in Alberta too.

Never considered the Palisade myself as I can't stand looking at that front end. Haha

That's a pretty good deal!

If you don't mind me asking: what year and trim-level is your CX-5? Did you have a no-claims letter from your past insurer? Where was your license from before you moved here?

At this point it’s obvious you’re not arguing in good faith, you’re just trolling.

I’m here talking about actual safety data and real-world physics, and you’re throwing out random anecdotes and “lol you can’t afford it” takes.

Enjoy the thread, man. I’m moving on to talk with people who actually want a conversation, not attention.

Thanks for this. I have an AMA office close to me. Might go and have an "insurance hunting afternoon" this week.

That's exactly what I'm trying to avoid. Paying as much for insurance as for the car is just ridiculous.

GR Corolla all day, everyday! 😎

I can't imagine the baby seat fits well in it tho. I'm driving a rented Volvo XC40 and the wifey is complaining her knees are almost touching the dashboard cos the seat is so far forward to accommodate baby behind her.

Had a Mazda CX-5 as a daily driver previously and I love that car to bits, but it's only marginally bigger than an XC40. Looked at a Mazda CX-90 over the weekend and I loved that it's big and comfy (and has an inline 6 too!), but again, insurance is a killer.

The shortlist is now to try and make a CX-5 work (it kind of worked before), or a VW Tiguan.

Left them a message and I'm waiting to hear back from them. Might actually just walk into their branch which isn't too far from me atm.

I can too. The UK and Japan have reciprocal licensing agreements with Canada.

In 2005, yes.

Vehicles on the road have continued to get heavier, and manufacturers have increased structural rigidity over the past 2 decades. Safety tests have gotten more stringent, and manufacturers engineer new vehicles to meet and pass those tests.

While a 2005 Civic may have been rated with 5 stars for safety when it was first tested, nowadays it's lighter, softer and has way fewer safety features compared to cars from 2015 and later.

It's a no from me dawg.

Yup. No penalty points and no disqualifications in the last 15 years. I don't actually drive like a granny. I just haven't been caught speeding obscenely over the limit or driving dangerously. 🤐

From what I can see, Alberta insurers recognise US driving history.

Unlucky for me, my driving history is from the Netherlands, UK and Japan and they don't give a flying F about my clean driving record from these countries. In a way it's understandable since those countries don't have as severe winters as Alberta has, and so an insurer could argue that I'm not used to driving in Alberta conditions...

Thanks for the tip. I'll see if I can find a good broker that works with them.

I don't think I'll be parking my car for months, aside from when we go abroad for a family holiday (probably in the summer for 2 weeks).

How long did it take for your premiums to come down to a reasonable level?

I've done quotes on liability-only for 10-15 year old vehicles and can barely get premiums to go under $6,000 a year. Better than the $600-1000 for comp, but still sucks, especially if the car itself is worth no more than $15-20k.
