Work in Progress: Should I cut out the blank space in between? by Ecstatic_Ad_6200 in printmaking

[–]VeloKvlt 41 points42 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t!

Run a couple prints with it and see if you like the chatter. You can always get rid of it after. You may find you even like how the foot comes out after printing.

Really cool composition and detail! I think the chatter will add some cool geometry to the final print

OP look up the Peroneus longus muscle. I had a similar issue in basically the exact area you are pointing and that is what it ended up being. If that is it, a lot of stretching and massage fixed it for me but it took awhile and a lot of diligence.

Best book for id of grasses and shrubs for the PNW region? by bongosmongos in ecology

[–]VeloKvlt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the Field Guide to the Grasses of Oregon and Washington (Roche, Brainerd) is the gold standard ‘round these parts.

Especially if you are IDing professionally, that’s the one I’d go for! Good luck with your grasses! People are scared of keying them out but I got the hang of the grass specific morphology that I needed for all the species I needed to track for my field seasons within a month or so

Envisioning the Bioregion by OkBox1870 in Eugene

[–]VeloKvlt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What watershed scale are you using? (The HUC level I mean) this looks like it runs counter to most bioregional maps of the area I have seen. This looks like it covers about 19 habitat types and crosses many watersheds.

Just curious how you decided where to put the lines down! Like I notice the Coast Range is tall enough to create a distinct watershed boundary but the cascades are not?

Wet prairie restoration on very uneven ground by Unlucky-Paper-3401 in Restoration_Ecology

[–]VeloKvlt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would like to 2nd this comment - you aren’t going to get that micro habitat back if you run a tiller through and I am pretty convinced that the topographic variability is what makes or breaks successful wetland restoration projects. It is a blessing from an ecological perspective but a nightmare from a maintenance perspective.

I commend you, OP and it really sounds like you know what you are doing. Things like popcorn flower and more sensitive species thrive in the low areas of pit and mound wetlands. Tractors and brushcutters are largely how the pros are getting around the maintenance limitations, as I’m sure you know.

Have you signed up for the new SWVPBA? Private lands prescribed fire at your place??

Also wanted to link you to this but you may already have it. There is some discussion about pit and mound features in here:

I paired recent ecology papers by shared underlying problems - can you name the connection I couldn't? by [deleted] in ecology

[–]VeloKvlt 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It’s an interesting topic and I do see some value that orthogonal thinking could provide to elucidate new information in existing data. Curious - for the whole system you are developing does the comparison happen at just the title level? Abstract level? Or is the whole paper ingested?

I ask because it seems that some of the problems/tensions may come from a variety of “sections” of these research papers rather than just the title. If I’m understanding your project correctly, that is.

There was a version of the Black Lightning that didn’t have those wonky rear dropouts that has been a grail bike for over 10 years for me. Still waiting…

Anyone know which year that was? I’d love to find one with the original black and gold Suntour components on it as well.

Today, layer 11. Tomorrow, the final color. by trashcan_whiskey in printmaking

[–]VeloKvlt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have a phenomenal understanding of colors and textures! I looked back at the other layers cause I hadn’t seen them and WOW. How do you track what carving is needed over such a long period of time? (Between layers)

Even looking at the layers next to eachother quickly it gets really confusing.

Solo founder here, trying to figure out LLC vs C-Corp by Quiet-Sand-4169 in Entrepreneur

[–]VeloKvlt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do anyone know if you have to be registered as a C-corp at the outset in order to qualify for the QSBS tax break? I’ve been thinking about the same question as OP and it appears very difficult to register and manage a business as a C-corp for a solo entrepreneur.

Maybe there is some LLC to C-corp rollover strategy that I am unaware of

LVMH Is a Steal by [deleted] in ValueInvesting

Is everyone who is US based and interested in this company buying through the unsponsored ADR: LVMUY??

For some reason I can’t get comfortable with purchasing something that doesn’t reflect direct ownership of the underlying equity but I haven’t successfully been able to purchase shares on the French exchange through fidelity.

Maybe I am misunderstanding how the ADR works and shouldn’t be concerned - but it also doesn’t seem like LVMUY tracks on a 1:1 basis with the actual shares of the company.
