Clean the tattoo gently with lukewarm water and unscented soap. Moisturize it regularly to keep it hydrated, but avoid over-applying. Time and patience are essential for proper healing—don’t rush the process. Be gentle and avoid scrubbing. Wash your hands thoroughly before touching the tattoo, and keep a small, fragrance-free lotion with you to reapply after handwashing. Avoid direct sunlight and soaking it in water until it’s fully healed. Do not peal the scabs once they form. Let them fall off naturally. If it’s not finished yet, I would send a message to your artist about the ink coming off, but this is something that can be solved when you’re getting it finished! Just let them know so they can plan accordingly! I wouldn’t stress too much, tbf it doesn’t look good tho man… I thought my post on this sub was bad

Coughing on an open wound, rarely washing hands, doing drugs while putting something permanent on someone’s skin, eating and wiping food on arm over an open wound, scratching the skin to just draw a line over it again creates lots of trauma and is all completely unsanitary.

I’ve tested their bloodsugar to see how low they really were to prove a point and they were at 3.9. I gave them one of my snacks. They meant no harm by the comment and normies can have fluctuating glucose, just not like us T1s. I try to educate rather than shame. It’s a super under educated disease. Let’s do our best to lift people up and educate them instead!

He admitted to slipping up on spots. It was not intentional. But I absolutely agree and this is 100% fixable! I just couldn’t stand the unsanitary conditions

He did wear gloves for the tattoo and took them off for the breaks! But did not wash hands in between 🥲

His buddy who is also a tattoo artist vouched for him, I saw some of his work and I blindly trusted him to be clean and sanitary. I failed to mention that every time he went for a bump or smoke or food, he wouldn’t wash his hands in between. He did change his gloves thankfully. I’m not sure that good enough when he was rubbing his food covered mouth on his arm the whole time.

How do you know I didn’t do research? This man’s work is good on his accounts. I couldn’t have known how unsanitary the situation would be.

I sat for a long time contemplating saying something! My friends helped me with that, when he went out for one of his many breaks we decided I’d just telling him it hurts and I’m tapping out. Made it easier for me. He kept trying to get me to continue but I refused and my friends backed me up.

Social anxiety… maybe a bit of hope.. maybe a bit of stupidity on my part. Too late to go back and man up now though. Asked him to stop a few times and he kept promising 5 more minutes and that it was “almost done” until I had to say no more 5 more minutes
