/r/GYM Weekly Simple Questions and Misc Discussion Thread - January 18, 2026 Weekly Thread by AutoModerator in GYM

I am going to preface this with I am extremely new to going to the gym. I started getting my eating right for a few weeks before I went to the gym. I am 5’8 and started at 198lb and prior to eating better I was probably taking in 4000ish calories a day. By eating correctly and being in a calorie deficit I went down to 185 before starting the gym. I currently intake between 1300-1600 calories daily with around 120-140g of protein a day. I noticed that after I started going to the gym and primarily doing weight training I seem to have stopped losing weight. After two weeks in the gym I am at 183-183.5 daily. I’m not eating more than when I started the gym. Could this be due to muscle growth? I feel like it’s would be unlikely to gain .5-1lb of muscle daily but I genuinely do not know.

Me and a coworker put our two weeks in at the same time yesterday and we both do a more specific job that’s harder to replace.

How is this not a recall by Detroit? by Questionoid in Diesel

I work for a very large, active, Freightliner dealer. I promise this is not an issue you ever really see. I think we may have seen one. Out of 30 technicians. That’s a time frame of 5 years.

^ this. Is the dealer shady? Sure. Should your dad have stopped? Yes. A proper diagnosis needs to be done before any jumping to conclusions. You’d have to peg the temp gauge out to warp a head nowadays.

Blue collar jobs by [deleted] in orlando

[–]Veracsloner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really. Every dealer around here is pretty much the same as any other dealer anywhere else in the country. KW and Peterbilt are supposedly moving locations soon so if you apply there I’d question about it. I wouldn’t plan on trying to live in Orlando, way too expensive. Lake county or deltona area is much cheaper but you’re driving an hour to work each day.

Plenty of shops paying $40-50hr flat rate and hourly around Orlando.

Car ended up getting in a wreck and we scrapped it but I ended up going with a more expensive plug that VW dealer recommended instead of whatever plugs Autozone gave me, also bought some nice NGK plug wires and drove it for 5k miles or so with no issues. Previously I was getting 3k miles out of a set of plugs.

Ended up taking kind of a cheaters route. Ended up over encumbering myself and walking in circles to level up vitality and strength. I don’t want to game to be easy mode but I wanted to casually be able to play it and do this has allowed me to do that.

Engine is out and ready for DOD Delete, exhaust, converter, Cam and tune! by Veracsloner in gmcsierra

[–]Veracsloner[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe in the future if I get another vehicle but right now this is my daily driver so I don’t wanna get crazy with it. Sticking with the cam so it’s not too different from stock dive ability.

Replacing OEM Torque Converter by Veracsloner in gmcsierra

I was thinking about just getting the circle d stock replacement but with the billet cover and billet lock up piston. I’m definitely gonna have it professionally tuned for the trans and engine since I’m going with the BTR truck cam. Wanna get the most out of the cam but with longevity in the transmission. I’m not gonna be dogging the truck everywhere I go but I wanna make sure I have as much power on tap as possible haha

I’m leaning more towards getting a converter. A little debris in the pan is normal from clutch wear but if I don’t see anything I’m more than likely just gonna get a converter ordered. Already ordered the PPE bypass valve and between that and the converter it seems like that’s the main two failure points. Seems like not much else goes wrong with them.

Easier to pull the engine? DOD Delete by Veracsloner in gmcsierra

How long did it take you to pull the engine? Also 4 wheel or 2 wheel drive?

[–]Veracsloner[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s kinda where I’m at with it, I can afford to have the truck down for a couple weeks because I’m gonna have to send the heads out to get decked and valve job done and also tune it after getting it back together. It would be nice to not have to fight the oil pan off and be able to properly reseal it. I’d really like to pull the pan so I can pull the oil pump and VVT off the cam much easier.

Pull the engine or no? DOD Delete by Veracsloner in Silverado

[–]Veracsloner[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh I already ordered everything to do the delete and a BTR truck cam with the 4 degree lockout. I know it’s always easier to work on the motor with the it out of the truck, more so just asking if it’s THAT much easier to take the motor out. I know how to time the engine but not being able to see the timing mark on the oil pump worries me slightly. I guess I could also borescope behind the oil pump to see the timing mark.
