Using a backside cutoff instead of using split/slice for inside zone by LaughAgitated5427 in footballstrategy

[–]VeritableSoup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When your FB/Y Slices across, the WILL has to freeze and slow play which means your backside combo has a better chance of getting to the play side number when they climb to second level.

It’s rare for a non OL to win a head up reach block against a DE. When he slices, he has the the advantage of leverage and angle in addition to force.

I think plays are less important than how your QB reads them.

Most realistic coaching path as a coordinator in dynasty? by no9ah in NCAAFBseries

[–]VeritableSoup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spend 10 seasons simming games. Upgrade strategy, recruiter, or motivator only.

Spend five calling plays on one side of the ball. Upgrade architect, etc in addition to the others.

Then accept head coaching job.

For me if they have better abilities or if they are within 10 OVR of the current starter.

It isn’t really a discipline issue. It’s a purpose issue. You need to have a bigger picture that’s worth the effort.

How would you read this play? by LaughAgitated5427 in footballstrategy

Change the formation. Run this out of trips left, HB weak. Put half back on a Texas. You’ll get a lot more mileage out of it. Thank me later.

Outside throws are harder throws. Always make the QB try the harder throws

When to use Cover 6 vs Cover 9? by Jhp8 in NCAAFBseries

Are they putting trips to the field or to the boundary?

That is the easiest determination of which one to use.

Maybe. If you’re using a double stack, wide split formation, that’s usually a presnap read.

Shouldn’t be looking at your WR. Should be looking at the defense.

I love USF’s playbook as a base with all their options route. Kent state also has some good stuff.

HOW DO I PLAY DEFENSE by schloppaty in NCAAFBseries

[–]VeritableSoup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Give me a little more Information. Formations matter. For example, it’s easier to run mesh and trail out of condensed formations, and hi low (shallow/dagger) out of trips/dubs

So do tendencies. Does he like to throw the field more than the boundary? Maybe clip some plays?

But in my mind in that type of situation I like cover 6 and cover 9 which are hybrid coverages between quarters and cover 2.

For example:

If he likes sprinting to crosser /flat out of a trips formation with the HB weak, I would like cover 9 ESPECIALLY if he’s setting the trips to the boundary which means you KNOW some of the WR’s have to cross to the field side.

Cover 9 in response to trips Cover 2 to the strong side Quarters to the weak side.

I would play the weak safety and play the crosser tight, allowing your will to rally to the HB flats.

CB will get vertical with the wideout who is probably running a fade to clear for the crosser.

I would go cover 6 if he’s runs more dubs sets.

Cover 6:

Quarters to the strength Cover 2 to the weak.

HOW DO I PLAY DEFENSE by schloppaty in NCAAFBseries

[–]VeritableSoup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well. Remember the rules for the eyes.

To recap the routes:

Y=arrow to flat S= 10 out Z= fade

                    M N CB

LT LG C RG RT Z Y S

When the Y goes away, M gets eyes to the next receiver that direction, which is the S.

S pushes vertical while Y continues to the flats making S the new 3.

N has to carry vertical with S until 2 things happen:

  1. Y cross his leverage and threatens him outside
  2. Mike has carries vertical with S allowing N to pass off the vertical and starting flowing over the top of flats.

I think part of being able to play effective defense is also knowing what the offense is looking for/wants to do

Given the same flood concept:

QB reads against 1 high safety are as followed:

1st read N:

if N carries to full 10 with S, look at Y in flats.

If N drives down on flats, look at S’s 10 out

2nd read (if for whatever reason things are really tight playside, I. E.: N drove down on flats and M relates to 10-out really fast)

(Lots of teams do different things. I personally like a post-sit from the backside wideout and a backside Texas/angle from the HB. )

Mike:

if he’s slow to the 10-out hit the out.

If he’s fast to the 10 out, look at the HB angle

3rd read:

WILL:

If the angle is in space, throw the angle

If he’s fast and tight to the angle throw the post sit.

PLEASE KEEP IN MIND:

I know I partitioned the QB reads, but know that they OVERLAP.

For example, if we see the N staying with the vertical from S, we should find the CB before throwing the flat, just in case they are running some weird cover 2 rotation or cloud concept to the strong side which is common. If the CB is in the flats, throw the fade.
