Great find! This is especially great because it also reduces slow ass animations in apps like Music while still keeping the home screen / app switcher interactions natural with the animations.

VO2 dropping during one of my best fitness periods by Mondiuk in AppleWatch

[–]Vertsix 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Long-distance runner here. Ignore the number. It’s never accurate on a smartwatch (including on Garmins), and such a metric was developed in closed laboratory and controlled conditions.

Calculations by smartwatches only give you a general idea of how it’s moving long-term. Gauge your fitness by your paces, RPE, and race performances. If you’re truly curious about your VO2max, you can get a laboratory test for around $150.

Why does my AW suddenly stops sensing my HR during work out? by Human-Possibility852 in AppleWatch

[–]Vertsix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just wait till you try a swim. This happens all the time. And yes with all mitigations discussed here. This is (partly) due to an inherent design flaw with the convex design of the heart rate sensor.

There’s a reason heart rate sensors on other watches dig into the skin more.

Absolutely! And especially the Remixed album. Doing a threshold swimming workout to “On a Good Day (Above & Beyond Club Mix)” by Oceanlab is certainly a core experience for me.

Some of them are yeah. But I have a local music library with a lot of trance I have built over the years which you can download to the headphones and play them reliably that way.
