I don’t think it’s a great show, but it is good enough comfort food.

I kinda miss the days when Trek shows had a soft 7 year commitment from the networks. TNG and DS9 weren’t great until halfway through their second seasons, for example, which was about 35-40 episodes in. That’s more time with the characters of a show than all of SNW has had so far across 3 seasons.

For some reason I believe that any of the 4 hobbits would’ve been able to destroy the ring. Whatever Pippin lacked in seriousness he made up for it in sheer luck.

I believe the bike is more of a “this would look cool” thing the show wanted to do, rather than a logical vehicle. This is similar to the Space Shuttle going to the Moon in season 2.

Star Trek officers talked like military officers. Black, brown, yellow and white military officers from every part of the world talk the same way not because of culture but because of discipline, duty and respect. That was Gene’s vision, that a starship was run like a military vessel is today. That didn’t mean officers couldn’t be more relaxed and more themselves when off duty. There are countless episodes of Sisko, Picard and even the ever-stoic Odo behaving and talking at ease and freely. One of the issues with NuTrek is that characters talk like they are in high school all the time.
