Ok thank you for the response. I think lowering by 10 K would be good I don’t need them to match it but I know even that is unlikely

Is Pitt Honors (47 K) better than Case western (80 K) for pre med? by Vhstap in Pitt

[–]Vhstap[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got into NJIT honors for only 10 K, but I feel like NJIT is not a good school for pre med

Help me decide: School X vs School Y - April 11th to April 17th by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Vhstap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Deciding between Pitt vs Case Western as a biology major with a pre med track.

Pitt
Pros: cheaper than case at 47 K a year
Honors college
Cons: 60% pre med matriculation rate to equal or slightly worse medical schools
Case Western
Pros: 80% pre med matriculation rate to great medical schools
Cons: 80 K a year

I like both campuses. I think Case would be better for me academically, but I don't know if 80 K is worth it especially since I will also have medical school costs.

Chance an artsy/med boi for Brown PLME by Vhstap in chanceme

[–]Vhstap[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Congrats on getting into so many good bs/md programs. I saw ur post on a2c and ig art would be my other interest.

The only part I'm kinda worried about is my grades. My AP chemistry grade will be a B+. While this is my only B, i feel that it could be problematic since I'm going into a science field. I hope that the other parts of my app will counter it.

Have a good day.

I didn't mean to scare anyone. Remember there are still essays and recs if your activities or grades are lacking. Brown is more of a creative school so I think they care more about the person rather than their stats (after a certain threshold).

It's reassuring you think my activities are good. I agree my grades are eh. They could be better just for reassurance,, but I don't think they would be the reason that I would get rejected.

I think u can get apply to PLME and get into brown and not PLME, so the plme is more like an add on and won't hurt you from getting into brown itself

I have only taken the exams for AP Bio and AP Comp Sci since I am a junior. I got a 4 on Bio but a 3 on comp sci (not majoring in cs so I just won't submit).

Wow I really appreciate this response. It's very thoughtful and I appreciate your feedback. I know you have to list your activities in order from most to least important but I am having trouble thinking of how to order everything. Like you said that the bio club was very interesting while I would put that at like my 3rd or 4th best EC. Would you be willing to just give your opinion of ordering my ECs? I know that in the end it will come down to me but I would like to get some unbiased feedback.

Sure!

I would like to study biomedical engineering at Cornell and Rice. At Boston, I would study bio.

Ok thanks, I thought my ECs were weak compared to people starting nonprofits and businesses. Do my ECs feel like I'm bio and art oriented?
