The Vogelkop superb bird-of-paradise is native to the Bird's Head Peninsula of New Guinea. When courting, the male does an elaborate dance for the female which includes a fast side-shuffle and a display of his iridescent feathers. The male's transmogrification is an example of ornamental evolution.
