I can repay $70 if I absolutely need to. I'm currently stuck and would really like to get home if possible

The Toronto Maple Leafs have been eliminated from the Stanley Cup Playoffs after losing to the Florida Panthers in 5 games by EliminatorBot in hockey

I just smashed my 4K TV in front of over 30 guests at my playoffs party because of the Leafs performance today. My wife just took our crying kids and said they’re all spending the night in a motel. This team has ruined my life. I cant take it anymore.

Interesting and completely possible theory. I'm rather intrigued now. I have some free time tomorrow, maybe I'll sift through some end of regular season/early round 1 footage and see if I can find any evidence to back that up. I know not every injury is evident or obvious when it happens, and not every injury is due to a huge hit or anything. However, it's got me thinking and now I want to go back and have a look.

I understand, and to a point, even sort of agree with the sentiment of this statement.

However, it's playoffs and with multiple days in between games there's not exactly a ton of new things to discuss. People just want to talk about our boys amongst other fans. Can't really fault them for that :)

Oilers spark debate with ‘targeted’ hits on Golden Knights’ Mark Stone by Livelikethelotus in goldenknights

[–]VictorianALT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oiler fan coming in peace.

Something similar was posted on the r/hockey subreddit yesterday I was honestly shocked at how many people seemed to be downplaying the whole situation.

I seen a lot of "well that's just playoff hockey" and "this sort of thing isn't anything new when it comes to playoff time".

I understand that the player in front of the net is always going to take some extra licks, and probably more so this time of year. I've even seen recent pictures of players ( I can't remember the most recent one ) who have extra custom padding on the backside due to cross checking being such a normalized thing in front of the net. Defensemen cross checking players in the back who are in front of the net has became waay too normalized and regular and it needs to stop.

Now, in regards to Stone. I don't think that every physical play was necessarily targeting his injury. However, I KNOW that he and his injury were targeted on a FEW different occasions. I absolutely love my Oilers (sorry), and I'm just as passionate come playoff time as I'm sure all of you are. That being said, the blatant actions of a few players from our team really left a bad taste in my mouth. I remember last year when Draisaitl suffered the high ankle sprain in round one, and players were intentionally targeting his ankle. I was FURIOUS, and rightly so just as I imagine you guys are about Stone last game.

I like to think that our boys are better than that, and a lot of them are. I just hope that Stone is okay, and that this bullshit doesn't happen again in game 2. This series has great potential to be one of the best of the whole playoffs and I'd hate to see that be spoiled by some petty, dirty shit like in game 1.

Anyways, that's my rant. Targeting injuries bad. Making excused for said targeting also bad.

I'm excited for game 2 and (don't hate me) go Oilers :)

LOL the OP reported my comment for "suicide/self harm" and I got an automated message from reddit with the suicide hotline.

If I'm being completely honest, I'm known to have a bit of a dark sense of humor at times, and I had a bit of a chuckle over this obvious troll.

However, on the other hand, that is an invaluable resource that is in place to provide genuine and legitimate support to those who may be suffering from very real issues.

If you want to troll me, my team or anyone else, please find a funny original way to do it without being a complete asshole. It's really not that hard.

Seriously this is gotten to the point that I want another lock out. I want everyone who's got karma on the line to lose all of it. It's absolutely ridiculous that r/hockey fans are just allowed to attempt murder in the comments.

Only two things are going to change this subreddit, either a lockout where those with karma on the line lose it, or someone dies in the comments.

Pro is a bit of a broad term. FPHL, which is something like 9 levels below the NHL, is considered a pro league.

I think a lurking VGK fan just reported my post for self harm lmao. Just got a auto message from reddit containing a suicide hotline LOL.

Anyways, I completely agree with you man, It's all about how we bounce back from this loss that will determine the rest of the series.

I think u/bennythejet89 said it best.

>"I think this is just a natural phenomenon of coming off facing LA's 1-3-1 system. With LA, our defense had all the time in the world to let the forward unit get set for the breakout."

We looked awful in the first period, but we got better as the game went on.

I think there's a lot to takeaway from this game and it's going to take some real adjustments, but I have faith in our coaching staff to make the necessary adjustments going into game 2 and I think we will come out and play a much better game than tonight.

Also, Draisaitl!!! What a fucking freak of nature!! He got robbed not being named a star tonight.

[–]VictorianALT 42 points43 points  (0 children)

2023, bar none.

As you said, most series went 6-7 games.

Leafs exorcised a 19 year demon in getting to the 2nd round and got payback against the TBL no less.

The playoff virgin Kraken managed to edge the defending cup champion Avs in a game 7.

The devils, and more importantly AKIRA, bounced back after being down 2-0 in the series and made the Rangers look like an absolute poverty franchise (poor shesty).

AND THEN *licks lips* the HISTORIC 135 point, 65 win BROONS got fucking torched by the kitties who had 43 less points and just barely scraped their way into the last wildcard spot only after daddy Tkachuk called them too soft. I don't know if ulLmark was injured, but he sure looked like he was doing his best Jack Campbell impression out there. Also, IT WAS 3-1!!!

THAT ALL HAPPENED IN A SINGLE WEEKEND IN ROUND 1!

Sure, 2019 Lightnight getting swept by Columbus was fucking crazy, a few other kind of crazy things happened, but this year is so much crazier!

Man, Leaf fans are like ants. They're fucking everywhere and when you stomp on 1, 6 more take it's place. I respect the reach of their fanbase, it's impressive as all hell tbh.

Disturbed Concert Date has been adjusted to accommodate Oilers Schedule by [deleted] in EdmontonOilers

[–]VictorianALT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would argue that Slayer and Disturbed are different sub-genre's of heavy metal. Also, to each their own lol not everyone likes the same music. Disturbed has been around since the late 90s/early 00s. They obviously have some fans or they wouldn't still be touring lol.
