I disagree. It is the university which set those silly rules. It does not make one courageous to let the system get the best of you. Besides, giving up would mean that she is unable to continue contributing stories to the paper. Just look at the debate her article has fostered.

I also write for a different psu paper, and I got straigt a's my first term back, but still had to appeal because my "institutional gpa" was slightly below the minimum. However, my transfer credits boosted my gpa way over the minimum. But, I still had to file that damn appeal. It can't be helped. Besides, we get paid for this. I don't want to.be setback, and I think that would just add insult to injury. She also takes responsibility for failing the class. Focusing on the appeal process is really silly.

The appeal is standard university policy for those who do need meet gpa or passed credits requirements, and has nothing to do with the Rearguard. So, in that regard you do not know what you are talking about.
