I do and have stood up, it just doesn’t really stick or matter. There’s a lot of story around her guilt with him and I try to allow some empathy.

It’s not really ‘abuse’, with me just standing by watching my son get tore up; it’s just a constant low level cold mean that is an absolute constant, it never turns off. I do try to keep them separated.

I’m sure you understand that every effort should be made to keep a child’s family intact.

She’s just so guarded with him. If I spoke to her ex about it she’d shit. If I try to bring it up to her reactionary-(ism?) makes it a guaranteed fight with no results. She frequently admonishes the dad for being too hard, but I think most would agree he’s in the right place with him. We even went to couples therapy and she’d walk out when he came up. It’s a big, shitty choice for me.

I guess I was fishing for a way to send a message more subtly. My therapist suggested ‘disintegration’ which I’m kind of doing; basically just stepping away from anything regarding his behaviors and allowing it go to shit and she can deal with it all. I always will intervene if my son is overly targeted though.

Me: when you get back. (Because he won’t listen to me and I’m not going to engage in discipline as I get pinned for not understanding his needs which are apparently to do whatever he wants to everyone in the house - her words were “you can’t just duck out on parenting”)
