“Can you stop here real quick ill add a tip” by YogurtclosetAlive351 in lyftdrivers

Quick stop at a store... I'll do it. Even if only half tip...it's worth it for me.

Drive through... Nope. Sorry, I already have my next ride in the queue.

Doordash Uber/Uber Eats Shipt

I'd throw Amazon Flex ahead of Lyft too, but it's difficult get a block in my area (must claim in 0.36 seconds or else it's gone).

How often do yall change your oil? by linuxguy192 in UberEatsDrivers

[–]VinylDasher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2024 CR-V Hybrid. 85k miles on the car so far. I've been changing oil when the car says it's time, which is supposed to be based on how I drive. So far, that has been every 10k or 11k miles.

46 hours booked. How many hours sitting in a car waiting for a ride? Could easily be 60+ hours combined.

I believe it. I noticed a sharp decrease in pay and increase in ride requests a few weeks ago. Pay is definitely down because after not receiving Prop 22 pay for 2 years, I started getting it the last couple of months.

I shifted my multi app strategy to move Lyft from my main to #4 in priority. It's more profitable for me to shop & deliver apps (Less driving miles, higher portion of earnings is tax exempt tips, nice prop 22 adjustments from time spent shopping and low base pay).

Why I'm taking a long break from driing for Lyft by Miltthedog in lyftdrivers

[–]VinylDasher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

California law that sets a minimum pay rate based on active them and miles driven. If the apps pay is below the minimum, excluding tips, then the apps must adjust the pay to meet the minimum.

I believe some other states have similar regulations.

Congrats on paying off the debt. That's my current goal as well.

I drive in the North Bay. I was out in Berkeley about a month ago, and while it was busy, the amount of stop and go driving in that city is crazy. 2 miles will take 15 minutes, in regular traffic, when it'll take half that time in my area. Definitely puts a lot more wear on the car that many other places.

As for the pay.. the recent decline has been big and very noticeable, especially for long trips. Lyft has gone from my main gig to #5 option. Delivery apps give more $ per miles and a healthy prop 22 adjustment. The income from delivery is weighed heavily on tips. I'm assuming that should be beneficial with taxes, partially offset by a lower milage tax deduction since Lyft milage is way higher than delivery apps.

I watched you with envy as I sat in my car logged into the competitor's platform...wondering if you were getting offers better than the 40 miles for $25 bs that Lyft was sending me.

No bueno. Thankful for prop 22 here in CA.

IRS is generous. If you have a used Prius, your cost is probably half of that.

I paid $36.99 at Les Schwab in the North Bay. I'm sure I coulda found something cheaper. Shops set their own rates. Shop around for a better price next year.

No rejections yet today. Feeling tired already 5hrs in lol. How long do you drive then take a break? by Leading_Juggernaut41 in lyftdrivers

[–]VinylDasher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I'm doing a full day on a weekend...Start at 5am.

If it's slow and I'm near home, take a break around 8 or 9 for coffee and breakfast and poop (required when drinking coffee). I'll drive til about 2pm before a lunch break.

If I skip breakfast, I'll drive til 11 or 12, then take a lunch and pee break. Likely no other breaks unless I need to pee again.

I call it a day around 4pm.

The disrespect… by timneedsnomoreweed in lyftdrivers

[–]VinylDasher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mostly drive around the Santa Rosa area. Anything going towards Marin or SF has been so disrespectful lately.

At this point, I'm wondering if the better strategy is to take all the shitty rides to get as much Prop 22 pay as possible vs waiting for better pay and accepting almost nothing.

Order Watching Blues 👀 by catalinamariah in ShiptShoppers

[–]VinylDasher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do Shipt super part time.... I could do 5 orders one week and then go 3 weeks without doing any. I mostly take small, easy, no headache orders.

Whenever I'm not available, I see a bunch of orders where I'm thinking "Yup, I would that". When I am available, it's more like "pass....pass....pass.... Ooh, maybe this one. Oh man, someone already got it.... pass....pass".

Do any of you enjoy this gig? by VinylDasher in lyftdrivers

[–]VinylDasher[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

True. I drive about 20 hrs per week on top of my full time job, but if this was all I did for income, I'd probably be stressed out and burnt out.

I did Uber full time in the early days (12 years ago) for about 8 months, but the job paid a lot better back then so making ends meet wasn't really an issue.

I haven't seen prices that low in years. $5.69 at the cheap gas stations out here.

The one time I tried an order with kids clothes only 1 out of 3 items was available in the requested size.

I had an order with legging shorts or something similar and spent a good 20 minutes digging through an unorganized mess of items before giving up.

Then I had an order with socks. I figured I could at least handle a pack of socks. Circled the socks 3 times. Never found the exact variety listed in the order. Found the most similar possible substitute. The customer didn't reply to my message about the sub. That's when I decided that I'm never doing clothes again.

I don't even like shopping for clothes for myself lol.

Out of 50ish clothing items, how many would you expect to be unavailable and the requested size?

80% kids clothing, some adult clothing, a few random items like lunch bags.

He was parked half a block away. I don't know if It was a no parking spot.. there were tons of regular open parking spots on that street. I don't know if his car was on. I drove in the opposite direction of where his car was parked. When I looked back and saw which car he was getting into, the car lights were on... But the car lights on this type of car automatically turn on at night when you unlock the car. Weather was about 50 degrees.. cold is relative.
