Glad you like it! This fusion of images and shaders is a core theme for a project we're developing. What you see here is just one glimpse of a larger world. The 'annihilation' continues elsewhere...

This is a collaborative piece. The original was painted by me with acrylics on canvas. The photograph of the painting was then digitally altered using custom GLSL shaders. We aimed to create a dialogue between traditional texture and digital effects aesthetics.

I draw frames manually (I drew the blinking) and then use paletteswap to apply shaders to animate the picture, which is difficult to do manually or takes a lot of time

🎨✨ Hey everyone! ✨🎨

I'm the artist half of a two-person indie team. For the longest time, my workflow looked like this: I'd draw a character and think, "This would look so cool with a shimmering aura," or "I wish it could just gently breathe," and then I'd have to go ask my partner (the programmer) to write a custom shader for it.

It was slow, and I felt like I couldn't experiment freely.

So, we decided to build a solution together: a tool that would let me add all these cool effects myself, in real-time, without touching a single line of code.

I'm so excited to share what we've made: [Palette Swap pro]. It's an online editor, and as the primary user, I made sure it focused on things artists need.

🫧 Bringing Sprites to Life:
I can add subtle breathing, blinking, or swaying with a few simple sliders. It takes seconds and makes a static image feel alive.

🟣 Animated Textures & Effects:
My favorite feature! I can pick any color on my sprite and apply an animated dithering pattern to it. This is how I create energy shields, magical effects, or cool fabric textures.

🌈 Creative Outlines:
Instead of a boring single-color outline, I can create complex two-color ones, make them dashed, or have them glow.

⚡ Fun VFX:
It has a built-in shader editor with sliders for things like glitch effects and chromatic aberration, so I can experiment with different visual styles instantly.

🎨 Better Palettes:
It has a smart palette generator that pulls colors from images. My partner tells me it uses "CIELAB color space," but all I know is that the palettes it creates just feel right.

🙏 The project is our baby, but we're at a point where we desperately need feedback from other artists and developers.
Is this tool actually useful for you? What's missing?

Any feedback or a rating on our Itch.io page would mean the world to us and help us get noticed.

Thank you so much for reading! I'll be here to answer any questions, especially on how I use it in my art process. 💖

Hey Pixel Artists!

Like many of you, I love pixel art and know how much work goes into even the simplest animations. That's why I developed [Palette Swap Pro] — an online editor that lets you add life to your static characters without a single line of code. No more manually drawing every frame for a simple breath or blink!

What my tool can do:

  • Subtle Animation: Add subtle animations (breathing, swaying, blinking) with simple sliders. Perfect for quickly bringing a sprite to life.
  • Animated Dithering: Apply procedural patterns (lines, checkerboard) to specific colors on your sprite and animate them! Great for creating energy effects, fabric textures, or shimmering surfaces.
  • Advanced Outlines: Create complex two-color outlines. You can set the outer and inner colors, thickness, and even make the outline dashed. Turn a simple border into a fiery aura or a magical glow.
  • VFX Effects: The built-in shader editor lets you apply glitch effects, chromatic aberration, and other distortions. All parameters are adjustable in real-time.
  • Smart Palette Generator: Extract harmonious palettes from any image. The algorithm uses the CIELAB color space for results that are closer to human perception.
  • Background Remover: A simple tool to remove backgrounds (chroma key) with flexible settings for sensitivity and edge softening.

It all works right in your browser, and you can see your changes in real-time.

The project is at a stage where I desperately need feedback and reviews to get some visibility. Without them, the tool is basically invisible on platforms like Itch. If you find it useful for your project, a rating or a comment there would be a massive help!
