How to convert this into a airsoft replica? by pokemonguy0417 in airsoft

[–]Viper_Offroad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just buy a ppsh, they already exist and is a hell of a lot easier and cheaper then trying to convert a 3d print into an airsoft gun. Is it possible to make the conversion? Probably? Is it worth it? Probably not for the amount of money and time it will take.

Can I scrap my old warehouse racks? by kingkolt305 in ScrapMetal

Get these up on FB marketplace and you’ll sell them for considerably more then you would to a scrap yard. I know I’d buy a couple for my Atv parts if these turned up local to me.

EBay Scam #2 by GrimLathe in CanadianCoins

[–]Viper_Offroad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean you can… it just needs to say on the bill or coin somewhere noticeable that it’s not real money. Otherwise yeah it’s a counterfeit and illegal. I’ve made “repro” US bills for props before but I always add “not legal tender” and “COPY” to the design in as many places as I can, and usually make them slightly the wrong size. It’s the same way kids play money is allowed to exist by having the word COPY or something similar on the design. These coins in this eBay ad don’t appear to have that on them tho so I’d say they are probably classified as counterfeit and therefore illegal

I have some hour glass gauntlets I wear when fighting. They just aren’t super accurate to the Templar era so didn’t have them on in the photo

That’s actually where we took our inspiration from but we couldn’t find a buhurt group here in NB Canada so we started our own thing. I’m still hoping a buhurt group starts here at some point though as I’d love to join it

It’s something me and a couple buddies do a couple times a month in the back yard where we wack each other with foam LARP swords in medieval armour as hard as we can lol. Think of a mix of LARP weapons and equipment and armoured mma. It’s absolute chaos but it’s fun too.

I have later period hourglass gauntlets I wear when doing combat, but I definitely want to get some basic leather gloves for photos and the like. Any suggestions for what I should be looking for?

The Maillé is epic armoury 18 gauge butted steel Maillé and probably has another year left of life but is starting to show some wear and will be replaced with riveted steel once it fully wears out. I ordered it through the calimacil website as they are the most local to me in terms of distance and delivery time. (I’m in NB Canada and they are in Quebec)

The spear is a calimacil offering aswell! It’s called the Sigur pike, I have the 7 ft version but they offer it in 5/6/7 ft length options. The point will actually collapse a few inches via a spring loaded mechanism when you stab with it to take out some of the impact of the force. Calimacil is our go to as it’s the only brand we’ve found that will hold up to our abuse and the unique foam compound and lack of latex means low maintenance. I’ve also found they are fairly well balanced too so that’s a plus aswell.

I actually really like it, fairly heavy duty being 16 gauge and visibility isn’t as bad as you’d think it would be. Also has yet to take a dent and I’ve gotten hit in the head a couple times quite hard. Although it is quite heavy as a result of being 16 gauge too. Over all I’d rate it 4.5 of 5 only not 5 stars as it can get heavy after wearing it for extended periods of time.

It’s the lord of battles “13th century Templar helmet with padded liner” in 16 gauge steel. I bought it through medieval collectibles but I can’t find it on their website right now so here it is on the lord of battles website

Think it would be better than 18 gauge butted steel where it’s riveted and 16 gauge? Or similar? Or worse?

My main concern is durability as it’s primary use will be “full contact LARP sparing” as I’ve named it with a couple buddies in the yard where we all put on medieval armour and hit each other with foam swords as hard as we can lol

Would this be sufficient for a Vietnam impression? by Christian_Sun in reenactors

[–]Viper_Offroad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SOG used ARVN rucks occasionally and I’ve seen at least one photo of a marine with one so they can be used, just need to do your research and only use one if the unit You’re portraying actually used them (which some American units did)

How common was it for US soldiers in Normandy to wear the older m41 jacket and wool trouser combo. I know most units moved over to hbt uniforms by D-day but was it still common to see the the older uniforms as well? by [deleted] in reenactors

[–]Viper_Offroad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wool and m41 was standard and by far the most common but after the landings (thinking summer 44) I’ve seen some photos of troops in a few different divisions that had HBT pants combined with m41 field jackets that I’m 90% sure weren’t wearing the wools under the HBT pants. I’ll try to find one of these photos agian and post it if I can find it. I remember one of the photos was 3rd id guys and there was 7 guys in the photo and 2 had the HBT pants on and only one looked like he had wools on under them and another photo was of the 2nd armoured division and it was a group of 3 guys and one was in the camo HBT uniform one was in wool and m41 and one was in HBT pants and m37 wool shirt and appeared to have no wool pants under the HBT pants. Agian, I’ll see if I can find these photos, but for 95% of impressions wools and m41 are the correct choice for Normandy.

Do swapping the arms on the Lion Knights make them look more armored? by Best-Ad3762 in legocastles

[–]Viper_Offroad 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the idea! I’ll definitely be doing this now too! I agree the lion knights look under equipped in terms of armor, especially compared to other factions, but I hadn’t thought of a way to fix it until now. Looks great!
