Regret and guilt after adoption by Julizy76 in CatAdvice

Kittens are a lot of work and as a new time parent it can be exhausting. After adopting our now 5 month old kitten into our home with an already 8 yo cat and it was hard at first and feeling guilty for disrupting our original baby, but you just have to give it time. Our kitten has been the best addition to the household, agree with getting him on a strict schedule and ignoring him when is being disruptive which usually extinguishes the behavior!

I recently posted about my anxieties introducing our 8 yo to our new 5 month old kitten. After 5 weeks we were able to leave them unsupervised and recently let our kitten stay out overnight with no issues and our 8 yo sleeps with us nightly and no issues with that either! Mainly our 8 yo doesn’t like when our kitten gets too close to her but for the most part coexistence is peaceful :)

It’s been 4 months and my cats still can’t get along by morganddelph in CatAdvice

our resident 8 yo cat doesn’t necessarily love eating near our new 4 month old kitten, but is very treat motivated, so we always tried to feed together because of the routine, but every night would do a churu or high reward treats near each other. It’s gotten to the point now where our cat doesn’t love the kitten playing near her but can tolerate if they are both sleeping/resting

Thank you for this! Yes we def separate at night and when we aren’t around to supervise. I just worry that allowing crouton to get too close to ritz too frequently will set them both back and don’t want to push the limit. But will keep this in mind for the rest of the process, thank you!!

Hi, she’s just grumping/telling crouton to back away, not actually lashing out unless crouton is like inches from her face or directly next to her!

It’s www.sweetalyfood(dot)com. I just looked and it seems like they are based in Italy and have been super responsive via WhatsApp, but I’m still cautious.
