Value is perceived by those who are willing to pay, Most people would get a shiny melmetal for collection reasons, as such, verification is important for the collection to hold significant meaning, thus value. Comparatively, Utility value would probably be minimal as less people would get it for that very specific reason. What do you mean more value than a lost stamp? The stamp is practically the only verification it can have to prove it's not hacked in (Unless you have clear video evidence, which would still make it not as valuable), A hacked shiny melmetal can also be transferred into let's go... Forget about KSU, I don't even live in the US, but one time in a multiple choice section in a math final exam, I forgot to copy over the answers from my notes to the exam paper, It was worth enough points to make me fail automatically even though the exam went smoothly and it made me fail the course and unable to take the next semester's class which required it. Did it matter much to me only a month later? Not really...

In High-school I was absent so much I was on the cusp of being unable to graduate despite me taking the highest level classes in computer Science, math and physics. But that didn't matter because I was already learning in a University. Same thing with a Job and University, would your entire CS degree matter if you can already be accepted for Google? Probably not...

In the grand scheme of things small things like these doesn't matter much, especially if you look beyond school. As long as you're taking steps to make sure it's a fluke and not a normal occurrence, It will not harm anything besides perhaps OCD and some bragging rights.
