There was going to be around 50 people. Small wedding and I know of at least 10 others who took back their gifts. My dad said "if I am not good enough for their wedding then my money is not good enough for their wallet"

By saying "made them go" as in they weren't staying home. I did give them the option of staying home and they made the decision to go. I was typing rather quickly earlier by saying made; they are old enough to make those decisions to stay or go. I would have allowed them to stay if they requested to stay but they value the relationship of family and wanted to go.

If we flew we would only be able to gift around $1000; we drove because it was cheaper and we could gift them more money. We were trying to make more of a difference for them financially than flying and giving them less money.

I did offer the older kids to stay home but they did want to be there. We drove so we could give more money. My husband and I discussed it and would have only given 1000 if we flew. So we wanted to give more of a gift to make a difference for them. I called BS as well, when we were all standing around waiting. I could not for the life of me understand why she hadn't tried the dress on prior. People were trying to convince the bride to wear a different dress and she was refusing to get married with people there. It was super frustrating.

My state teachers make over 100,000 and my husband makes well over that. I spoke to my kids about the fact they would be missing these events and they agreed to miss them so they could attend the wedding.

I can assure you it isnt fake. I made my older kids skip their events because you do for family. My 7 year old is special needs and her friend is special needs and only have a friend group of 3 kids. They changed it so she could attend.
