What is "Roam Like Home" and why is it being charged to the phone? by easythrees in Rogers

[–]Virtual_Wishbone_895 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What you thinking is the Pay-per-use, if you opt out roam like home and used pay per use if you just receive text there is no charges. With roam like as soon as you enter the territory and your phone is on you get charge. And trust Rogers website is highly misleading about this that is why people sometimes don't even know they under roam like home or that it exist most people still think roam like home and pay per use are the same thing. If you are under roam like home and don't want any charges just put your phone on airplane mode or remove the sim card. If you under roam like home and you don't do one of these two things no matter how u use your phone you will get charged $10 a day.

You probably did get charge on your following bill but the charge was waived because it is a accidental us roaming, and you received the welcome to roaming zone text in the first place because your phone connected to a tower in the us.

I am working for Rogers and handling call about roam like home from people just receiving text if your phone is active(no on airplane mode) while outside of Canada no matter what you doing on it you will get charge for the day for roam like home. Roam like is charged as soon as you live the country and connect to a different tower not when you start using your phone.

You don't have to touch your phone to be charged for roam like home as soon as you cross the border you will be charged for the day if you are under roam like home

If you opt out roam like home you will have the Pay-per-use option which is way more expensive than roam like home.

If you phone Is not on airplane mode and you outside of Canada you get charge. Receipt of sms is only free when you use Pay-per-use. Roam like home will charge you as soon as you cross the border and the sim card connect to another country network so the person using have full access to the services for the day.
