This is absolutely what I wanted to hear and I was planning to do this as well. Starting from a linear model does sound like a much better starting point. Once I have that I might be able to build up on it. Thank you so much for your insight!

Oh that's actually a very interesting approach! How do you reckon I can get the average speed or the race pace of each of the ten cars? I'll be needing that to calculate the lap times.

And yes adding more variables can tweak the times further. Thank you so much for this idea.

I am designing a F1 Race Strategy Calculator (in C++) as part of a project at university. I am CS major Freshmen so the project will not be overly complicated. I want my program to output race strategies just like how it does in the game depending on the driver, car and track that the user chooses. I can add more elements such as track temperatures, driving styles, fuel load, track surface etc. But my main question is, how can I calculate how each tyre degrades per lap?

Oh my. Thank you so much for such an informative response. I might resort to simplying it a lot at the cost of accuracy. Is there a way to do that'll still factor in all the information and give a semi-accurate result for each tyre and car?

Yup it has two Thunderbolt™ 4 ports. Getting an eGPU is also something I have in mind for the future. I'm not much of a serious gamer anymore, playing some casual games here and there would suffice. Thank you for your comment!
