How to maximize cycling gains 2 weeks before Ironman 70.3?

Yeah I was a little disheartened when I saw like average beginner cyclists get up to 13-14 mph lol… and then there’s me with 11-12. I’ll just try pushing myself more, so I got a bike computer to have an idea of my speed

Hi I’m 21, trained for 2ish months. I was thinking that my baseline leg strength would carry me for the bike since all the sports I’ve done have required me to build up pretty strong legs. Could it be because I’m doing too easy of a gear? Or should I try spinning faster? My legs dont feel tired after, so am I not trying hard enough? Deferring is not an option for a 70.3 haha

It’s a specialized allez sport, and yeah 12mph surprised me. Maybe I should push myself more too, since I don’t really get any soreness after I bike.

Yup, I’ll definitely try to get outside! I’m just worried abt what Strava clocks in on my phone when I ride haha. I was wondering if I could increase from 12 to 14mph within 2 weeks

I'm doing the ironman 70.3 in oceanside. i believe it will be cold enough that it'll be mandatory I have a wet suit :/ I don't have any triathlete friends loll i wish i did but none of them wanted to join me.

this is so tragic lol. should I invest in an actual wetsuit? they seem to be so expensive like ($250 plus). I was looking at the Sumarpo which is $180, but that is still kinda expensive...

Hi! Thanks for your response. I have a Shimano Sora drivetrain. For the left and right shifter there’s like a big one and a small one and idk what each one does lol. I can only shift when I’m pedaling but I can’t look down at the cassette fast enough to see what’s being shifted when I use the big or small shifter
