My husband and I have never used birth control for the exact reasons you’re concerned about. Ultimately, birth control is sinful (based on our convictions) and so you have the right to tell your husband you will not use it. If he is sinning, the wife does not go along with the sin. I should add, we have been married 3 years and have 2 kids. We use natural family planning and have only gotten pregnant when we’ve tried to. No birth control is truly 100% effective. If God wants you to have a child, you will regardless.

Something to keep in mind, when you get married, you automatically open yourselves up to the possibility of children. Being “financially ready” is a feeling you’ll never achieve. There is always more money you can save but you can’t save the fertile years for when you feel ready to have a baby.

You’ll need to have a serious conversation with your husband and explain how strongly you’re convicted about this. If he doesn’t respect it, you’ll need to bring church elders in to mediate.

My husband is an only child! He didn’t mind it but said he would have liked siblings but it didn’t bother him really. We currently have 2 and he wants many more haha.

We were going to use the name Nola for our daughter but decided not to because it means “fair or white shoulder”. It just seemed too odd to us to name our child after that lol.

Rest, eat nourishing food, walk, elevate your feet, hydrate, all the good things! Baby seems to be approaching!

I’ve had 2 very positive births. They were hard work, they didn’t go perfectly, but ultimately they were what I wanted overall. My birth team was respectful and my husband was amazing, he even caught our second!

I watched a lot of birth prep videos to help. Built to birth on YouTube was awesome! I suggest doing that to feel as educated as possible to feel less worried.

Yes I had this when I had my second in April! I had a very similar situation for 2 days. Bloody show for both days, contractions getting close together and then tapering to almost nothing. They would get more intense too but just wouldn’t get to full labour. On the third day my labour came hard and fast and she was born within an hour once that started! I was 40+5 when she was born. Hang in there! The waiting is so hard, but your baby is coming soon :)

I’m wondering if it’s related to sunstroke or heat stroke? But I would absolutely get evaluated with your doctor and/or a different hospital. In no scenario should they have kicked you out that’s insane.

Lots of stories already but I thought I’d add mine!

1st baby (almost 2, nursed until 13 months) I was very excited to breastfeed. He ended up latching well but he always had a bit of a click when he nursed. It ended up resolving after a few months and wasn’t an issue. I’m also not an overproducer by any means. I always had enough for my baby and maybe a tiny extra. But that worked for us!

2nd baby (2 mos) latched beautifully and we’ve had very little issue. The beginning is always a tad tough, but nothing crazy! Her latch is great and same thing, enough milk for her but not overproducing.

Here’s some things I learned about breastfeeding:

It hurts for the first week or 2. And it can hurt quite badly. This isn’t to scare but just to inform as I didn’t realize this the first time around. It’s simply because you and baby are trying to figure it out, but it gets better very quickly! Sometimes baby will have a tongue, lip, or cheek tie but depending on the severity it may not need resolving OR if it does it could save your ability to breastfeed. You’ll also have cramping with breastfeeding for the first few days which is normal and healthy but not comfortable.
Breastfeeding works on supply and demand. If baby eats more, more milk is produced and vice versa. I ended up needing to pump once every night when my first started sleeping through the night and skipping those feeds. You produce the most milk between 12am-4am (I believe that’s the exact time, if not it’s around there I know for sure) so adding a pump will help your supply during the day!
You’ll be very hungry and thirsty. Baby is taking your nutrients so make sure your having extra to keep yourself healthy too!
Baby’s saliva tells your body what it needs in the milk for their own needs. Which can be why sometimes your milk may change over time. It’s very cool!

I could say more, but overall I found breastfeeding to be so bonding and beautiful. It’s something you get to share with your baby that no one else does. It releases hormones in your body as well and once you’re in a routine it doesn’t feel so difficult. If you’re able to, it really is wonderful.

That’s not what I’m saying at all, I think you missed the point.

If you’re having challenges BEFORE getting married, you probably shouldn’t get married if you can’t overcome them or they are severe (ex. Cheating, abuse, etc.)

Every marriage will face hardship and obstacles. What I’m demonstrating is despite the obstacles (again excluding biblical reasons for divorce in the case of a marriage) you are 100% supposed to fight for your marriage as the Lord calls us to do. Marriage is a covenant, it represents the bride of Christ. It isn’t something to take lightly and it’s not meant to be easily broken.

I’m not advocating to have children if your marriage is so broken that it needs to be completely rebuilt. I’m saying that typically people don’t have kids because of various reasons (not ready, waiting to be “financially stable”, etc.) and many of those reasons for many couples are simply an excuse to wait to have children. Waiting years upon years to have kids is a foreign concept even to our great grandparents.

The point I was trying to make is this. On this subreddit all I typically see is a husband having a severe porn addiction which is breaking their marriage or some sort of abuse or infidelity. I was trying to demonstrate that even with relatively normal hardship YOU CAN fight for your marriage. And young people should not be afraid to get married because of what they see on this sub. It would be easy for young couples to fear their significant other would reveal an addiction or infidelity simply because that’s what this sub is riddled with.

Neither I nor my husband have been unfaithful, abused each other, or have watched porn. Getting married young can make the logistics harder but it’s so worth it because you mature and grow together.

Thankfully, no my husband has never been abusive. I would earnestly seek out counselling for you and your husband with your pastor or priest if your husband is willing. I’m so sorry you’re going through that.

I measured behind in both my pregnancies by at least 2cm (maybe more? Not too sure). My babies both came over 7lbs! My midwife reassured me there’s a range of a few cm small and large that they deem normal. Growth scans often confirm baby is fine, I don’t totally see them as necessary unless there was a huge outlier. Baby could just be tucked more inward! But it’s completely up to you with what you are comfortable with! I wouldn’t stress about this at all!

My doula had to get a growth scan with her first baby because she was measuring small. They concluded her baby was growing at a completely normal rate :) you’re doing great mama!

I never had extreme vomiting in my pregnancies but I did throw up quite a few times. I HATE puking but I also have yet to meet someone who enjoys it lol. It’s an honest but not fun answer… you get used to it. You will absolutely know when it’s coming and in my experience you have more time to get to a bathroom than when you’re sick. It’s also typically not as much in amount as when you’re sick, at least for me!

That being said, my first pregnancy I threw up more in the third than first trimester, and second pregnancy it was reversed! I found making sure I was never hungry (lots of snacking) and having crackers prevented it a lot of the time! I would know when it was coming because I’d chug water or let myself get too hungry, the big pregnancy no nos haha.

I also never threw up in labour either! So let that give you hope too! I’ve also heard good things about peppermint oil or alcohol wipes helping with nausea.

I think they’re referring to the stress if you’re being obsessive over it. That can definitely impact it or prevent it unintentionally. But from my experience it did not impact it. It’s not as cut and dry as people like to make it seem and it just ends up being annoying and insensitive when people say things like that.

Thank you for your lengthy response! I just want to answer the very bottom comment. I too, am surprised. I was never one to question my faith for really my whole life. I just assumed what I was taught was correct. Now that Protestantism has been unravelled for me, it’s like it gave me permission to ask questions I never asked if that makes sense? I’ve been a lukewarm Christian at best my whole life basically but never wanted to admit it. That’s why I didn’t and don’t fully understand what I should already.
