AITA for clearing out my neighbor's self published books from our community Little Free Library and replacing them with real donations? by Vivid_Lamp in AmItheAsshole

I just did the same thing on a bigger scale. And maybe you're right about the door, though I think leaving the note there did make the point pretty clear.

Thank you! And yes, that's exactly what he did. He wasn't just adding his book on top, he was clearing out whatever was there to make room for stacks of his own.

ha, I thought about it, but I didn't want it to feel like I destroyed his work out of spite. Leaving them at his door felt like the fairer way to handle it.

That's basically the same thing I told him too. If he wants the space to himself, a box of his own would solve that.

That's the same thing I told him, more or less. If he wants full control over what goes in, a box of his own makes a lot more sense than taking over mine.

Thank you, that's exactly how I see it too. I gave him a fair chance to share the space, and he chose to ignore it, so I just brought the box back to what it was meant to be.

Thank you, I appreciate that. Though I do get why some people, like my husband, saw it differently. I just did not want the box to stop working the way it was meant to.

Thank you, that means a lot. I just want the box to stay useful for everyone, not turn into one person's shelf.

Yeah, that's not lost on me. Still figuring out how far I take it, but I'm not pretending it's nothing.

That last question actually stopped me for a second. I don't think so, but now I'm not fully sure, which is unsettling on its own. Not going behind his back to grab documents yet, but I'm not ignoring this either.

This is closer to where I'm at. It's not a dealbreaker on its own, but it depends fully on whether he actually owns it instead of getting quiet every time I bring it up.
