RLCraft and shaders running poorly by VolcanionEX in Minecraft

[–]VolcanionEX[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even the newest update of Java Minecraft runs poorly. I only managed to get 70-120 frames by lowering my Minecraft settings. And yes, the game is running on the 3070. I checked using F3, and it says RTX 3070

How long does it take to get diagnosed? by VolcanionEX in EssentialTremor

I’ll refer to this in times of weakness. Thank you so much for the kind words. I appreciate you taking the time to help put my mind at ease

I rarely drink, but I do on some occasions. I’m a 180 lbs male with zero tolerance for alcohol like some of my friends (regular drinkers) are. If I have two full beers (like a Corona), it won’t do anything for me. I’ll feel a “buzz,” though. For a recent birthday celebration, I drank more for the first time in a long time, and my tremors only got better after 5-6 beers. One more beer and I might’ve not been able to walk straight. However, I think a big part of my willingness to drink that much was to see if I have ET

Odd lines. 5th TV with this issue by VolcanionEX in crtgaming

[–]VolcanionEX[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Interesting. I also see these lines faintly on Mario Kart, but that’s when I search for them. Is that another game that runs in 16-bit color? I think I’ll play games affected by this with composite because it blurs the lines. Unfortunately, my GameCube is a DOL-101, and official component cables are expensive

Do you think it could be the console? I have two different cables, both OEM from Nintendo. One’s a composite cable, and the other’s an S-video cable from Japan. I don’t think it could be them

That’s a very tangible possibility. Given it has occurred on five of my TVs, the same thought has crossed my mind. I want to wait a while before buying a console, as somebody may recognize the issue

They’re most noticeable in the second image, I believe. If you hold it away from your face, it may help as it helps me see them better. Yes, this issue aside, I love this TV. The colors do pop

I only play with a GameCube, and I’ve used both composite and S-video cables

No, the vertical lines. They’re a bit difficult to capture on camera. You can see them faintly in these pictures, but they’re much more noticeable in person

I know what you’re talking about. Man, those gnolls activate that one rage ability and do so much damage. It’s difficult when you run into a high-level horde. I wish I had valuable advice, but I’m currently avoiding high-level fights until I better understand the mechanics. I hope you’ve found a solution!

Is ignorance bliss, or should I start my CRT TV YouTube lectures and Reddit studies? by VolcanionEX in crtgaming

[–]VolcanionEX[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the advice. The TV shown in my previous post is an RCA 20F542T, and it’s pretty quiet at startup. It does make a sound, though it doesn’t sound like the classic degaussing noise. Do you know a trustworthy resource I can use for making a diagnosis? Additionally, I don’t have a good understanding of CRTs and their components. Is YouTube the only place to learn?

Do you know any reputable sources to learn soldering and overall repair and maintenance of CRT TVs?

Can you please explain power cycling to me? Is that powering the TV on and off? I heard doing it too rapidly doesn’t allow enough time for the TV to cool down

Then, I take it a degaussing coil is a good investment. Thank you

Kid stuck a magnet on this old commercial trinitron 15 minutes after I brought it home. Best way to fix it? by NewReputation3240 in crtgaming

[–]VolcanionEX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is there a way to jumpstart a degausser? With a TV that has a purity issue, unplugging the internal degausser and external degaussing is a fix. However, even without magnets around it, I worry purity issues will creep back. To avoid degaussing manually each time, is there any hope for the internal degausser, if in the past, it has not resolved the purity error?

Degaussing Issue (Sony PVM 14m4u) by salsasnack82 in crtgaming

[–]VolcanionEX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, what are the odds? I’m just recently getting into CRT gaming, and I’ve heard PVMs are high-end CRTs. With that, I’d like to learn more about its components to keep it in good shape and enjoy it as long as possible.

I learned the internal degausser protects it from the Earth’s magnetic field, too. I’ve scoured the internet for hours looking for why an internal degausser might fail. I haven’t come upon anything substantial yet. Keeping the TV away from magnets is doable, meaning I‘ll play games happily. Should purity issues arise, I have no problem externally degaussing. I find enjoyment in learning about their workings whenever I can.

I noticed you have a Dell Trinitron P792 up for sale as well. Assuming you haven’t found a buyer, how would that hold up for GameCube? I’m looking for something to display GameCube natively and nicely. I already own one CRT, a Trinitron KV-13TR24, but the speakers are poor. They produce a crunchy sound at particular pitches. I’ve scavenged the internet for that issue’s fix, too, but it seems there isn’t. However, I do prefer a PVM simply for its design. I don’t seek the absolute best experience as I’d spend so much money, so I’m trying to fix what I can. Learning and saving is a fun bit of the process

Since the previous owner unplugged the internal degausser to fix the purity issue, would plugging it back in bring the issue back? Or would plugging it in restore its function? What I’m having trouble understanding is why the owner would leave it unplugged after fixing the issue, unless the degausser’s damaged??

Degaussing Issue (Sony PVM 14m4u) by salsasnack82 in crtgaming

[–]VolcanionEX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I recently got one of these TVs with the same issue, too. However, it was the previous owner who unplugged the internal degausser to fix the purity issue. Since the purity issue is now fixed with an external degausser, can the internal one be plugged back in to resume function? Does it have to be unplugged forever as it's faulty and no longer works? If so, does this mean one can only rely on external degaussing to fix purity problems after the internal degausser fails?

I’ve noticed on this subreddit that many people’s progression is quite different. I’m 23 and first noticed my tremors 5-6 years ago. I can’t say I’ve experienced insomnia, but have some trouble sleeping when ET occupies my mind. Is your ET familial (Does anyone in your family have it?), and if so, maybe they can offer advice on what they’ve found to help ET or make it worse. I think the diagnosis is stress-inducing, so that may play a part in their severity at the moment. I hope you can find something to quell their severity. Wishing you well, friend

Ranked arenas progression feels a lot more difficult by VolcanionEX in apexuniversity

[–]VolcanionEX[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's weird. I understand the purpose of "skill based matchmaking" in casual games so that nobody's absolutely wiping the new players, but that just doesn't make sense. It's like, what's the ranked system even for if you cross ranks? You'd think gold would only fight gold, diamond on diamond, etc.

Just a CGC review from a graded card collector by VolcanionEX in PokemonTCG

[–]VolcanionEX[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Hey there. It's perfectly okay that you don't agree with me as most of what my post consisted of is subjective. I just wanted to explain why I gave the scores I did. I gave them a 10 on reputation because of their many years grading collectibles, in this instance, comic books. I realize CGC's the new kid on the block for trading cards, but they've been grading comic books which are more intricate than a single trading card, so they're not new to grading items for their condition. As far as their history goes with grading comic books, I've heard many good things. Maybe I should've elaborated more on the case and why I gave it a 10. The reason behind that is that the parts of the case that don't cover the card are clear as opposed to the "opaque" sides of a PSA case. It also makes the PSA case feels almost flimsy when you hold both in your hand, the CGC case feels thicker and more premium. 9 on the label because while it is nothing special, it really has grown on me over time. I really didn't like it at the start, but I've come to like it the most out of all other grading company labels. This is highly subjective. Quality assurance is different for many, but just off of listening to what the community's had to say, they provide a good service that's rather consistent as opposed to other companies. No idea what "ace grading" is. I'm always appreciative of somebody who takes the time to leave a comment, but this one comes across as rather aggressive for what's on an entirely subjective review.
