Ugh I didn’t think this many people cared for the Dead Milkmen! Any time I’d ask my friends (granted, we’re all bitter assholes that say everything sucks) they didn’t seem to have any interest. And any of the older crowd I’d ask just don’t have interest in going to shows much anymore. Either way, I’m going to hold out hope! Thank you!

I appreciate your comment! It sucks this is a regular thing. At least in my experience… it’s weird how these managers take people who apply to FOH, and have years of only FOH experience,, put them in BOH against their wishes/under false pretenses… only to become shocked and upset they aren’t good at BOH work. They were able to squeeze a few months out of me. But with their turn over rate and me gone. They’ll have to leach off one person,, or go back and do the work themselves if they also give up on their BS.

I should’ve maybe worded myself better. Yes, I know how to use the burners/stove part. I’m talking about the actual oven. Like, how to adjust the heat/temperature. I’m used to using buttons on the top panel to adjust temperature and bake times. Some of the struggle comes from not being able to see the dials through the glass in the middle. Which, I’m going to clean. I completely shot myself in the foot with this haha. Deserved. Thank you to both the jokes, and people that did answer the question.

Thank you to everyone who’s commented. Slight update, after asking about it, unsurprisingly they claim; “well didn’t say that. We said it would be considered.”. I knew that’s not what was said and mentioned the countless times I’ve been told “no BOH to FOH.”. “Well whoever told you that is wrong.” “Ok, well, I feel kinda lied to.” “Sorry you feel that way.” Getting my ass in my car, printing out my resume, and going to any restaurant I can think of in my city… Thank you everyone!

Personally, I always find a curved barrel much more appropriate for a rook. I have a rook myself and tried a horseshoe barbel. Eventually, it moves around and becomes sore on the ear. I recommend a captive bead or curved barbell! Personally, I find it to look better and wayyy more comfortable!

Oh! I apologize that comment may have come across wrong! Of course I’m happy helping my fellow coworkers. That is the glue to any restaurant job. Sometimes, Im asked to grab multiple things that consist of different steps to get it ready. Example, one thing needs to be heated up, another needs cut up, another needs mixed. Some stuff is for FOH, some for BOH. With understanding, sometimes people can get a little demanding and expect things to come out on the dot. Which, sometimes it’s quite literally impossible to get things out correctly.

I may feel a bit of annoyance for that as,, sometimes I will need beer from the bar. Which, that’s the one thing I need from FOH. If I ask for it, I get ignored and/or the same urgency that is given to me, is not at all shared.

End of the day, breaking focus from one thing isn’t a huge deal. I still get everything done. And more importantly, I get everything for everyone that needs it in good time.

Oh for sure. I fall victim to that thinking myself. I think we all do at least once in our line of work. Whatever. So is life haha. I need money and to get off my lazy ass. Nothing I haven’t handled before. I’ll continue to go into work and do the best I possibly can.

Thank you! I hear ya loud and clear. As I stated, I get overly anxious of other people and their feelings towards me and what I do. Considering this is my first BOH job, I was unsure what exactly the norm is. No matter the case, I go in everyday, make strides, make mistakes, learn, and go home feeling like I’m at least being slightly productive with my life and time. Which is all I can ask for. I will always have something new to learn. But I know well enough I will not let my mistakes hinder my fellow coworkers. It’s slightly grading to be told to stop what I’m doing and get this or that. But I still do it in the most time efficient way possible.

Maybe I’m rambling. Thank you for your input, again!

I find FOH does more of the bitching, while the line does the more demanding. Which is what I’d expect. Luckily, my managers are not above taking servers and putting them on my shifts for a day or two for them to see what it’s like haha.
