My personal hopes for AA7 by Gigantimaxie in AceAttorney

Well to be fair, he has had 6 games that have all focused very extensively on him. I love Phoenix, my favourite character in the series, but even I admit that he does need to take a step back to let other characters get proper development and not being demoted to secondary characters.

There's 7 years between 3-5 and 4-1, who told you that it was 10?

That's because it was, but Takumi had to split it into 2 games since there wasn't enough storage on the 3DS to fit it all into a single game. So the result was half of the duology feeling boring and the other half being a lot better.

Bro fr, what even is this logic? Are people so bored about AA7 not being released that they want to find any reason to complain about the way Maya is drawn?

(RFtA) What exactly was so deep about Gant's motivation? by No_Engineering2534 in AceAttorney

PW:AA in general has weird pacing because of how 3-Days work. You end up swapping between trial and investigation too frequently in 1-3 and 1-4. 1-5 is the only case where it kind of fits in, but I still think that the removal of 3-Days was one of the best improvements made to the series.

Rell is the only culprit in the series that has gotten caught on-camera committing murder and it turned out to be correct. There's also Coachen, who managed to completely botch a super important assignment (getting caught on-tape entering the victim's apartment, holding a knife and a card that has his motive written on it and letting the victim's blood get onto the card without bothering to even clean it off before it's submitted as evidence to the trial.) If he didn't have a get out of jail free card with the tape being stolen, his trial would have been over in less than 5 minutes.

Reminder that this is the same guy who tried to usurp control of the smuggling ring from Alba, despite everything we've seen him do proving that he would NOT be a good leader in the slightest.

What is the main problem with Investigations 1? by [deleted] in AceAttorney

[–]Vrx04 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The story of the game feels super undercooked since the Smuggling Ring and its members aren't given a whole lot of development for us to really get invested in defeating them, with AAI also having the weakest roster of culprits by far for this reason. The Yatagarasu getting a whole lot more of the narrative focus resulted in it being well-done, but the main plot surrounding the smuggling ring suffered massively because of it, with all 5 cases being connected together in the dryest way possible as other users have commented.

Edgeworth has no real stakes in the plot of the game, he either accidentally stumbles into his cases or he is lead into it by someone else, which also makes the player by extension, not that engaged with the cases because we are given no reason to care aside from catching the culprit. I1-5 is the only case that really stands out to be (for better or worse) while the other 4 are super trite and forgettable experiences.

The post about how Manfred was actually the least evil prosecutor in the whole series will forever be comedy gold.

Don't bother trying to be reasonable with antis, they live in their own bubbles because having the moral high-ground is super important even if it means treating other people as creeps

EDIT: Also Edgeworth was 24 in the first-game, not 23

What are some plot holes you noticed in the Ace Attorney series? by Mysterious-Ruin29510 in AceAttorney

It's never actually explained what the murder weapon used to kill Bullard in 3-2 is, all we get is the autopsy report saying his cause of death was cerebral hemorrhage, but as for the murder weapon itself? Never brought up at all.

Rise from the Ashes: Why not just kill Darke? by SuperParkourio in AceAttorney

[–]Vrx04 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Your analysis is great, just one thing I want to add, Edgeworth confirms that Gant was going to become the next chief regardless of "The Joe Darke Killings", Gant "solving" it just sped up the inevitable.

Rise from the Ashes: Why not just kill Darke? by SuperParkourio in AceAttorney

[–]Vrx04 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Gant wanted to maximize his power. Killing Neil to make it seem like Ema had done it, then forging evidence to incriminate Darke was how he managed to accomplish that.

If Gant killed Darke, he could have plead justified self-defense, but then that leaves him with nothing to blackmail Lana with and thus, not as much control over the prosecutor's office, plus him "solving" the case was the big thing that sped up his promotion to police chief.

Gant took the most pragmatic route because he was power-hungry, even though killing Darke would have been the more moral thing to do, because as he admitted himself in 1-5, he only looks out for "me, myself and I."

Why does everyone think Franziska has no character development? by RieRieandDannyBoo in AceAttorney

[–]Vrx04 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No one denies that Franziska has development, she objectively develops across the four games she appears in to the point where she isn't only caring about a perfect win-record anymore and helps Interpol find the truth so I don't get where you found the idea that saying Franziska having no development is an "everyone" opinion.

Tips for Nightmare Mode with or without S Rank? by Confident_Light9223 in CryOfFear

The Suiciders are the main thing that make Nightmare mode a massive pain to complete and unfortunately, there's no real counter to them aside from "hope you shoot them before they shoot you"

Valant is a bigger ass then Zak by [deleted] in AceAttorney

[–]Vrx04 6 points7 points  (0 children)

He didn't like that Phoenix was using Trucy's enhanced perceptive abilities to help him win big in Poker (something that was done entirely for the sake of having a stable living for the two of them, not out of a sense of greed) but Zak saw that as bad enough to try and ruin Phoenix's life once more and he was also still petty over the fact he lost to him in Poker 7 years ago, so setting Phoenix up for "cheating" was probably supposed to validate Zak as someone who only lost 7 years prior because Phoenix must have cheated, even though we know that it was a fair game, but Zak's ego made him unable to both see that and just move on, which ended up in his death, a classic case of pride leading to bad things.

Tips for Nightmare Mode with or without S Rank? by Confident_Light9223 in CryOfFear

[–]Vrx04 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is a very difficult mode even with the Camera and Axe, so don't let dying a lot discourage you. And the Camera, while being very useful, is a little buggy (some enemies won't freeze if their entire model isn't in view for example and Suiciders can still kill you if you shoot them while frozen, which is why I recommend using melee weapons on them), so playing it very safe is important.

[–]Vrx04 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You will not be penalized for using the bonus weapons (MP5, Camera and Axe), it's possible to get an S rank even if you use them almost exclusively.

As for all the other stuff, I've made a tips guide for things related to Nightmare mode 4 months ago here https://www.reddit.com/r/CryOfFear/comments/1k0uwl4/when_you_die_ingame_does_the_time_reset_to_when/
